Batman: Arkham Asylum contains hidden clues about Arkham City
59
It turns out the new Batman: Arkham City game recently announced by Rocksteady in Game Informer has been in the planning stages for a while -- there are hints in Batman: Arkham Asylum that the cape and cowl adventure would expand its borders. A secret room hidden in the back of Warden Quincy Sharp's office has actually held concept art and a map of the upcoming sequel this whole time.
Players who finished the Spirit of Arkham quest to 100 percent the game will also know that Sharp has some extra agendas goin -- and don't forget that one of the domains registered by Warner Bros. for the sequel is "StopMayorSharp.com." So it appears that Rocksteady has already built story ties between the two titles.
Lead narrative designer Paul Crocker also tells GI that the second game will "shed new light on the events you saw in Arkham Asylum," too. Hopefully that means we'll (spoiler!) finally find out what's up with that little surprise scene after the credits.

I saw the movie. Which inspired me to say it in the first place, just never got around to knowing what it means.

@Raiki I'd like to see detective mode get fixed. It made the game too easy and there was no real incentive to not keep it on the whole time.

@Raiki I don't know about perfect, overall I liked the look and feel of everything but the sewers. Being down there was incredibly boring to me with the exception of fighting Croc which really wasn't a fight.

Detective mode for me too, I would have liked to have seen all the beautiful environments without everything being blue and full of skeletons. Sure, being a detective is one of life's greatest pleasures, but I don't know if I'm about to trade full color vision for it.

@Raiki - They could do without the slow-mo for me. I'd rather watch the Valkyrie carry me away in Too Human every 10 minutes than have a fight interrupted by that terrible slow-mo. Otherwise, brilliant game - and I totally agree with having both better boss fights and reworking detective mode.

@liquidsoap89 Don't be fooled. All three endings are the same except for the character who does the grabbing.

So how do you get the different endings? And what were they, if you don't mind spoiling it (I sure don't)?

@toadsworth I am one of the few people who fails to see how arkham asylum is an amazing game. It's good, for a superhero game. That being said, superhero games generally aren't that good. So looking at the game objectively, it is a pretty good game, but I hardly found it brilliant.

This is awesome. It shows that Warner Brothers believed in Arkham Asylum even before it was finished being developed. I hope they can turn the first game into a franchise that brings us multiple excellent Batman games. Lord knows we've waited long enough for a decent superhero game franchise.

I need to beat Arkham Asylum at some point. I hope they pack in more Riddler Challenges in the sequel, those were always fun diversions and great fan service.
Also, from what little I have seen I like how the Cat Woman on the cover of Game Informer matches the bit of artwork you get for that particular Riddler Challenge. It's not as knock-you-over-the-head blatantly sexualized as Harley or Poison Ivy was in the first game.

How is that little Easter egg in Arkham Asylum only just now being mentioned? I heard about that months ago, literally a week after sending my copy of the game back to Gamefly (I almost put it back on my queue just to find that map).

Is Mark Hamill going to reprise his role as the Joker? I've read that he's done doing Joker voices. I think he was the voice of Joker in the Arkham City teaser a while ago though.

@GuardianLegend I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that this game is actually his very last Joker project. He's retiring that voice.
