Can you reporter types find out for me if original edition save files are compatible? I might be willing to repurchase, since I haven't gotten much of the DLC yet.

Dude.... they don't even know what is in the damn package yet and you want to know save file specifics?

Good luck with that.

Well, you know, giving them ideas of what info to include in their next article.

Hell, so long as it isn't Dragon Age 2, I'm good.

As I understand it, Dragon Age Origins has DLC to go along with it while Awakening is so big of an expansion that it's practically a whole new game. If the Ultimate Edition is to contain Origins' DLC that'd make sense. But I can't really see it containing Origins' DLC PLUS Awakening all on the same disc...probably not even on a Blu-ray disc (although I could be wrong) for PS3. But DEFINITELY not on 360 - multiple discs for that...I'm guessing. Ah well, who knows. I've yet to play anything Dragon Age so I'll just hold off till this drops.

@C1ph3rDivyne
Probably be the same as Fallout3 GotY. Put the expansion and some DLC onto a different disc that you install and then dont need it anymore. Unless you need awakening disc to play it, havent bought it yet. If they did the same as the force unleashed it will suck though

@C1ph3rDivyne Awakening was available as DLC and a retail disc, but im pretty sure given that awakening was 30 by itself, this would just include all the little stuff like Darkspawn Chronicles, Warden's Keep, etc.

@C1ph3rDivyne

You guys obviously missed the Oblivion GOTY edition. It came with a second disc containing an installable Shivering Isles (which WAS sold as a retail expansion disc originally), Knights of the Nine, and some other minor things. It didn't contain EVERYTHING, but that package was easily worth a retail $100, which is what DA:O + Awakenings is.

I suspect it's everything. On PS3, it's one blu-ray, on 360, it's one game disc which is identical to the original DA:O disc, and one "install disc" containing all of the additional content.

Also, old save files will be compatible.

The only thing I'm not sure about is if there's going to be any new content they put out exclusive to this collection in hopes of getting people to re-buy the set. Knowing EA... well, maybe.

This is great news for those who will buy this...

balls news for those (like me) who've invested already $120+ into Dragon Age already...

damn you bioware and your awesome games ... minus the news of DA2's lack of strategic camera...

Moral of the story - do not buy EA games until a year after their initial release.

Bought it. Played it 2/3 of the way through. Sold it.

Though I will gladly re-buy it if it comes with Awakenings and all the DLC.

The 360 will most likely get the same disc with a card to download all the DLC...that's what they usually do - cheaper than making another disc...

Since the DLC just went on sale this week (on 360) and the game can now be found used much cheaper, this deal isn't so hot...

Another PC game jumping on the $60 bandwagon, I see. I'm not a fan of price hikes. I appreciate that there might be some necessity to it--increased dev costs, inflation, oil cleanup costs, whatever.. but that doesn't mean I have to like it. My reactions on this will range from: annoyed to irate. Anyone aspiring for the lofty "annoyed" medal better not be pushing already-completed games into a GOTY box. This isn't recouping dev costs, it's milking! If you're going to bump things up in price, at least do it for new games. $60 for last year's stuff isn't really doing it for me, especially if I can find the big pieces for less... Maybe it comes with a tunic.

Origins and Awakening are themselves still $60. So basically, they're saying "take the plunge on the whole thing and we'll throw in the DLC for free." Not a bad deal, though it does sound like some of the DLC was pretty sub-par.

When I actually have the time to play this in a year, it's a definite buy. Especially considering that it won't be $60 anymore.

Hmmm, well let's see, I have the original plus Ostagar DLC. So at current prices (i.e. sans any sales) to get Awakening and the two other DLCs (leliana's song and darkspawn chronicles) would cost me $52. Now, assuming this is real and it does indeed have the game, plus Awakening, plus all DLCs and all for $60, then basically it only costs me $8 more to get'em all. Not sure what I would use the 2nd copy of main game for but that's a pretty darn good deal, plus for something called "Ultimate edition" they might include other goodies.

@Sam Fisher: Judging by your handle you probably enjoy the more action oriented nature of ME. However, if I misjudged you and you liked games like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Morrowind, or the like, you'll enjoy DA:O (for my money it's the better of the two series).
