The FIFA glitch involved yanking your ethernet cord immediately after making a certain purchase (w/ MS points) in the game. Doing so made it so that you got the item but also kept your points.

The likliness someone having their internet go down immediately after making that purchase is negligible, so practically anyone who had that glitch occur did so willingly. On the other hand, there could be a reasonably large number of gamers who own MW2 and also happened to download the trials for those games. I'm not sure if this glitch automatically grants the license and turns those trials into full games, so it might be that the person still has to go back to the sell page for that game, see that it's paid for, and choose to download/activate the full version. Even then, there can still be plenty of people that just so happened to do that and assumed the game was suddenly free due to a promotion or whatever.

Bottom line, bans are a lot less likely in situations like this where the nature of the glitch means a lot of people weren't knowingly glitching the situation and would obviously throw a fit if they got banned for it.

That said, you think MS could at least track down anyone who suddenly downloaded demos then free full versions of all 5 of those games anytime after this news break happened. I can't imagine there's anyone who would just coincidentally do that.

They shouldn't ban your gamertag simply because it is their own dumbass fault for having this easy ass glitch in the code. Your not actually getting a license for this game so it is really just a Full Version demo aka Playstation Plus's style of having a the full game available but only allowed to play it for an hour. Plus I refuse this is making SNK loose any sales because anyone who wanted these games already owns them.

Lastly Joystiq is madd late on this glitch. This was common place as of yesterday morning.

As of yesterday morning? HAHAHAHAHAH It has been up on the game-tuts website for over a week in the "public" forums, and was up before that on the private forums.

Also, you don't get to keep the game. After you cut your Xbox off you must do the glitch again for it to work. You do get Gamerscore though.

@BootlegZani I wouldn't call Stiq slow. I did that a couple of weeks back and I had most of a thread after me. And then some blowhard with a little bit of power set it so I couldn't reply to that thread any more. So Stiq=slow, but zealots=vocal.

@Cypher FDP how high are you? Garou was the worst in the series. Had a tiny, uninspired fighter list. And as its a straight DC port, that didnt sell well on DC or Xbox...you might as well pray for a Shenmue 3

1st off, this is old news.
2ndly, yes you DO get gamerscore. The game will be at the BOTTOM of your played games list. How do I know? Cuz I've already done it.
