Not a very good deal considering Walmart has it on clearance for $15 bucks - at least at my local store.

Actually I may go pick up a copy, was on the fence the other day.

@Anticrawl

thanks for the heads up. i've been curious about this game (and the Star Ocean franchise in general) and was considering getting it but not for $30. i'm going to Wal-Mart tonight anyway so i'll be sure to check the clearance section for it.

Yeah I was out hunting for the black chatpads after work again and saw a bunch piled in at the end-of-isle-kiosks for $15 dollar games, and they rang up at that price too. This being the PS3 & 360 version. They weren't in the $20 dollar isle though so keep an eye out.

Something sounds strange about that. On Walmart's website, the game is still $60. Are you sure that wasn't the PS2 or PSP version?

Stores can have individual clearance isles if necessary, so that price would not reflect the official Walmart price.

Exactly why I browse the clearance racks at Wallieworld anytime I visit.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and play Star Ocean 2: Second Story for Playstation. Or just start from the very beginning, but Star Ocean 2 has been the go-to RPG for me for years whenever I get that RPG urge.

Don't get me wrong, I play other RPG's too, though the battle mechanics, crafting system, and 86 (Some say 87) different endings have stood the test of time, personally.

@Frostblade10 That's a ton of endings! I have not dived into the Star Ocean franchise myself yet but I will have to try it out then. I have been getting more and more into RPG's lately and have been going back to see what I have missed since I really didn't get into them until the last couple years of the PS2's life as the only Sony console.

Star Ocean 2 trumphs Star Ocean. The Original Playstation port had the it's so bad it's good quality to voice acting. I made pornos with the bad voice acting. I was 16 or so when it came out and I made a five minute hentai with just the US voice acting of Star Ocean. Rena's "I feel like I'm about to overflow!" line when she gains a level was a great climax. Along with Claude's "That's somewhere around eighty points."

Rented it and sent it back 5 mins later. What a POS!

You gave an RPG 5 minutes? Why did you even rent it in the first place? The game doesn't even start in the first 5 minutes, just cut scenes..

The first cutscene is like 30 minutes... You could have saved yourself the trouble and watched a trailer before renting it.

I put over 80 hours into the game, and can safely say that I arrived at the same conclusion. What a POS. The only thing I can say Tri-Ace does right with RPGs is the post-game, but otherwise, it took every ounce of patience to make it through this game, and ultimately I regret it.

Hey, that's better than I did. I stopped around 30 hours, and it really wasn't that great. But the original comment is just plain silly, no matter how good or bad the thing is.

@Everyone: It's just an expression. I got to the first boss thing on the jungle planet with the rainbow rocks (WTF was up with that?).

From what I saw, the game had no redeeming qualities to it. Shame since I really liked SO3.

What a compelling argument. Thank you for saving days of my life!

I have enough to catch up on in my back library.

$30 isn't bad for someone who enjoys JRPGS. I finished the game in about 55 hours but I was ready for it to be over with after 30. The story took a huge dive in the middle and the enemies started to be recycled heavily.

@Petebot330 I was going to play it, I can't remember what else I was playing at the time, this is the 360 version I'm on about by the way.. it just got forgotten..
I've had Alan Wake since day one too, only completed chapter one, then got engrossed in Heavy Rain and maybe 7 other games across both consoles since..

Wow so much hate! It was decent imo.Very deep item creation and had a good battle system. Would've been great if not for the english dubs

well the story wasnt very good either but the combat and item creation were both good. my only reason for not getting 100% is because the 360 version's end game was TERRIBLE having to swap discs every time i wanted to go back to my ship

So....no difference between the Xbox 360 and PS3 version aside from more choices in voice language.
