In 5th grade my math teacher said..."This is the chapter on roman numerals...you won't ever need these. So we are going to skip this chapter."

I still don't know what Z is in Roman Numerals. Hell, I don't even know if Z is anything in Roman Numerals.

Haha, I remember when GTA IV came out I was at the store and this kid and his dad both pronounced GTA 4 as "GTA Ivy". I laughed.

@SnorlaxTheSerialKiller It doesn't mean anything, All you have to care about are I, V, X, L, C, D, and M. They just start adding lines on top of stuff which means you multiply it's value by 1000. i.e. V with a line on top = 5000. Though they don't really use that much anymore because they only really use Roman numerals to express dates these days (AND FINAL FANTASY'S AND DRAGON QUESTS), and we don't have dates that big yet.

I disagree, I think your teacher made the right move. They skipped what would probably have taken a whole class period what you can learn in five seconds, hopefully giving you more time to learn something more useful.

I remember in high school doing a whole math assignment in roman numerals.

@swingkid I actually had a math class that taught very old mathematics, like how to add/subtract/multiply/divide with roman numerals. Most interesting thing in that class that the teacher pointed out was that there is no representation for the number zero in most old mathematical systems. Namely because if you have nothing, wtf are you counting for?

I think if the best things games have done for you is teach you roman numerals, it's a sad, sad state of affairs.
Me, however, I've learn a lot of valuable life skills like how to eradicate ridiculous amounts of aliens and zombies. And alien zombies.
