I've never been so satisfied with a paid service as I have with Netflix. (...) Anyway. Somehow I'm getting even more value out of my $9 a month, so that's great news. I can't wait until I can search on XBL... even though that should have been there from the beginning...

@D3m0sthenes Crap and I've just joined up for BlockBuster Total Acces. Oh well I will miss the streaming but $12 for one disk and streaming isn't as good as $14 with games included.

@brianace I don't know what your talking about, I watch netflix all the time and I see no difference in the picture quality. Do you have a HD tv?

Yeah I have a 1080p TV, and my PS3 is hooked up via hdmi cable, so it makes it that much more obvious when one of the Starz movies comes on that the picture quality is so horrible. On the whole, I'm very happy with Netflix, it's just the Starz movies specifically that suck. the quality is just godawful. The movie selection and features of Netflix have been getting better and better, so I'm hoping this improves.

@Rocketman36 The majority (if not all) of the content from Starz Play is not available in HD. The problem is with Starz encoding of their movies. Sometimes they are watchable but often in fast moving sequences, the picture stutters badly. Two movies I recently watched where this happened were Planet 51 and Law Abiding Citizen. Hopefully Paramount does a better job with their encoding.

I totally agree. It happens often where I'm excited about a movie I find until I see it's from Starz.
They might not be so bad on the small screens of phones, but on large screen HDTVs it's almost useless. I have 5 devices with Netflix at this point, and they're all the same so there's no brand-bias going on.

@Seasick Pirate Ya I just looked at some of the movies and if you look for it is unbelievably obvious. I usually half watch movies while doing something else and that's probably why I didn't notice until now.

I was actually about to cancel my Netflix...not because I disliked it, but I wasn't using it as much. This probably just ensured I'll be keeping it for a while.

Will I be able to watch these with friends on XBL. One thing I hate the most about the Starz play movies is I can't watch them with friends....and they are not in HD. I hope to god these are in HD and watchable with a party.

i didn't realize some movies/tv shows on netflix are not watchable with a party. as long as everyone has netflix, how can they say you can't watch a certain movie or tv show with a friend? its probably obvious by my previous statement that i haven't used the netflix party much. lame!

@Ghost Toon This was on engadget Tuesday, they asked 'Netflix VP of Corporate Communications Steve Swasey whether we could expect HD streaming movies with Movie Parties or if they would have Starz-like restrictions. The answer? 'HD over time and no restrictions on Party Viewing.' "
