Going by a rating handed down by Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification (shouldn't it add "games" to its name at this point?), Hungarian dev ZEN Studios is readying a sequel to Pinball FX, the first and only pinball game for Xbox Live Arcade. The classification dated August 10, 2010, lists Microsoft as the publisher. Combine that with the fact that disc-based pinball titles are pretty much nonexistent at this point and, well, it's called Pinball FX 2, we'd say it's a pretty safe bet that the game is bound for XBLA.
The original Pinball FX hit Xbox 360 all the way back in 2007, but has seen regular updates in the form of new themed tables, the most recent of which landed in the Xbox Marketplace on January 27 of this year. We may not know anything solid on this sequel (apart from the fact that it's apparently suitable for all ages) but we have some hopes for it, the biggest being that those who own the original be able to use the tables they've bought in the new game, without having to buy them again. If not, we may have to paddle someone.
We've contacted Microsoft for comment on the classification and will update as soon as we hear back.

Kirbys dreamball was the best pinball game ever. All other pinball games just make me wish arcades didnt die.

Kirby's Pinball Land is excellent, as are the two Pokemon Pinball games. I'd say for games of their type though, neither can quite top Metroid Prime Pinball, The Pinball of the Dead, and the venerable Devil's Crush.
I really hope we get another Kirby Pinball game. Would be perfect on 3DS. That and Kirby's Block Ball, which is, IMO, the absolute best Breakout/Arkanoid clone.

@KrazyCalvin - You obviously haven't played Williams Pinball Hall Of Fame.

It would be swell if we can still use the old tables, here's hoping.

That's cool.
Zen Pinball has been amazing so far, I love these guys. I'd definitely consider picking this up for 360.

Pinball FX came to PSN as "Zen Pinball". Why? Who knows.

Zen Pinball has a significantly different physics system in play as compared to Pinball FX. In Zen, the balls feel heavier and react in a more realistic manner. Zen also has a cool little perk in new trophies for all new DLC tables. They're both great, but I have a feeling that "Pinball FX 2" is simply going to incorporate the enhanced physics and arcade syle visual effects already present in Zen.

I suppose releasing more tables for the first one was out of the question, so the obvious choice was to double dip and charge $10 or $15 for a unnecessary sequel.
Thanks a lot guys, way to make the fans happy. [rolleyes]

"disc-based pinball titles are pretty much nonexistent at this point"?
What about Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection? Excellent game--nothing but 5-star reviews over at Amazon. Way, way, way better than Pinball FX...and Pinball FX ain't too bad.

I think that Crave should team up with these guys, and, for the time being,
just release tables in the form of DLC. Just like with shmup games,
I think that it's better to focus on the digital market. I don't know if there
are enough pinball fans to justify a retail release.
