Rumor: Duke Nukem Forever being completed by Gearbox
73
According to unnamed sources speaking with Kotaku and "claiming to have knowledge of the situation," development on Duke Nukem Forever is continuing -- until completion -- with Borderlands developer Gearbox Software. Stranger still, the sources also claim that a "playable demo" will be distributed at some point "later this year." While Take-Two confirmed that it retains the rights to DNF, it didn't offer any comment on the matter.
Gearbox head Randy Pitchford couldn't say anything either, but did note that he might be able to "better clarify the situation" at this year's PAX Prime. Duke Nukem creator George Broussard declined to comment as well. Although this is most certainly a "rumor" for now, we'd still like to wish Gearbox the best of luck over the next 15 years.

I mean, it's just long since past the point where it was even relevant. By the time it gets released it'll end up going straight to GOG.com.

This is how this sounds:
Hot model calls you up "Yeah.. so.. .I'm definitely going to have sex with you tonight'
You: "Sweet"
15 years later...
Hot model: "Yeah, hold on, I'm just putting my shoes on, almost there"
You: "Allright, sweet!!"
1 year later:
Hot model: "Yeah, I'm not going to come over after all, sorry!"
Another year after that:
Hot model: "Hey... remember me? Yeah I'm sooo going to come over soon!"
1 year after that

(Sung to the tune of "The song that never ends")
This is the game that never ends
It goes on and on my friends
15 years ago, 3D Realms started it
Not knowing what it was
Now Gearbox is taking it,
Going to make it,
Not knowing what it is
And so,
This is the game that never ends...

The name was a joke. DNF = Did Not Finish.
It was always a joke, and they never intended to finish. Not sure if this is a serious effort now, because a lot of people would buy this game just because of the notoriety, but it's probably just another iteration of the gag.

Wrong. That hot model will be haggered and wrinkled after fifteen years of passage. This is assuming the model is 25 years old. Even five years will be enough time for her to not be so hot anymore.

Suddenly, it appears the Mayans might be on to something with the 2012 thing. So which is it: The end of the world or the actual release date?

It makes me crazy! Duke, as a character, wasn't even likable back when the games were out. He was an obvious stab at stupid 'edgy' nineties marketing, all kicking ass and chewing gum.
'Parking' your 'bricks' in an 'alien toilet' isn't even funny in an ironic way.

At least we know something IS going on. Or they all would have outright said that nothing is going on. Right?

@Sidebuster if there wasn't anything happening he'd be under no obligation from Take Two's legal guys to not say anything until PAX. Definitely suspicious

Okay, this is what I want out of gameplay...
To start the game first-person shooting terrorists in a military complex then four or five hours later you find yourself at a restaurant on the moon making ravioli for an incoming wedding party, and are honestly unable to tell where any significant changes in gameplay took place?
Yahtzee gave me the idea, now I won't be happy until I see it.
