Rumor: Duke Nukem Forever being completed by Gearbox
73
According to unnamed sources speaking with Kotaku and "claiming to have knowledge of the situation," development on Duke Nukem Forever is continuing -- until completion -- with Borderlands developer Gearbox Software. Stranger still, the sources also claim that a "playable demo" will be distributed at some point "later this year." While Take-Two confirmed that it retains the rights to DNF, it didn't offer any comment on the matter.
Gearbox head Randy Pitchford couldn't say anything either, but did note that he might be able to "better clarify the situation" at this year's PAX Prime. Duke Nukem creator George Broussard declined to comment as well. Although this is most certainly a "rumor" for now, we'd still like to wish Gearbox the best of luck over the next 15 years.

They shouldn't get our hopes up like this.... With that kind of news, one could be thinking this will come out before Dr. Dre's Detox (which comes in second place for most delayed thing in the world after this game)...

I think they need to overhaul this and give it a new graphics engine. That'll work.

Does anyone remember, I believe it was a couple of years ago before ODST was anounced that Gearbox said they had an unannounced project that was a major IP and everyone thought it was Halo. Maybe this is it

You know sometimes if you laugh too hard there's a chance you might soil your pants? Looks like that monster in the header picture has been laughing since 97 (when DN4EVA development began).

If this game doesn't feature pirate zombies riding on top of laser sharks while throwing monkeys at an army of robot ninjas riding on top of evil unicorns and throwing lolcats right back... it's gonna be a disappointment.

As on homage this game should truly go on 'forever' if its released..
Random generated landscapes/monsters that the players play through from one level to the next never being able to get to the end. Make it kick ass all the while and you can maybe profit

@Grimcicle
It's Take Two that paid some money. And even then they didn't really put money into it.

I will buy this game. I will buy it for $60. And I don't care if there is a pile of feces instead of a game disc in it. Long live Duke Nukem!!

I love that this is going to add even more fodder to the pile about if this game is going to get released or not.
It's now more legendary than Bigfoot.

I never stopped believing.
I can't wait, but all other game developers should be afraid. Once the greatest game of all time comes out (read: Duke Nukem Forever) there will be zero reason to even try developing games. No other game will be able to compare to it's greatness.
I'm so friggin' excited!

DNF Cannot be contained. Everytime it is developed, it becomes self aware and the project has to be shut down.

I wouldn't care if Sega, Activision, and Midway had a threesome to make this game. Just playing it before I have kids is good enough for me.

I know Gearbox has the rights to the game, but I thought the existing work was still being haggled over?
