Sony Style offering free game with 120GB PS3 purchase

If you're in the market for a new PS3, and you don't mind waiting just a bit, Sony Style has an appealing offer. Through August 21, Sony's retail site is offering one of six first-party games for free with the purchase of a 120GB PS3 Slim. You can choose from Uncharted 2, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, MAG, Heavy Rain, ModNation Racers or White Knight Chronicles.

Why the wait? The PS3 is currently on backorder at Sony Style, though the offer still seems to be good. So you can order now and actually receive your system later. Think of it as setting your future self up with a wonderful surprise.

This deal pretty much seals my fate as a future PS3 Owner, but I was thinking of Motorstorm. Is Uncharted really as good as people say? I had a chamce to play a demo, So I guess my real question is "Is the game long enough?"

Uncharted 2 is that good. Motorstorm gets pretty repetitive if you can't find a fun consistent multiplayer buddy.

Well Sony you make a compelling offer. I will pass but man you guys just can't stop making me want to get a Playstation 3. But everytime I think about the price tag i think of how many games i can get for my Xbox. If you ever hit that magical 200 mark however i will buy you faster than Activision can make Guitar Hero titles.

I'm wanting one now too. The PS3 now has enough exclusives to interest me, i just have to find the spare cash for one. I'm more tempted to find a used system somewhere first though.

I think the PS3 is very generously priced at 300 for what you get a great game system with a very good game library, blu-ray player hulu plus,streaming music and movies just like xbox,renting movies, great arcade games id take it over xbox any day even at 300.I think thats a very nice deal by sony style they will probably sell a lot.

I know that many peeps don't use the Ps3 or 360 rental service that much, but the video rental store on the PS3 is a headache because it takes an eternity to d/l a movie.

your connection probably sucks, I got three demos - 1.7 gigs or so - in 30 mins. Considering I supposedly get 800 mbps every 8 mins, and thats at FULL speed, and my PS3 supposeldy get 10mbs (2/3 my full speed)

I think its fast. The main issue with it, is the installation process after download. That can eat up about the same time it took to download.

I seriously don't understand how people don't owe a PS3 by now? When I think of titles such as Heavy Rain, Littlebigplanet, Gran Turismo (upcoming) Metal Gear, and so much more, it's such a disservice to not own one. Then my head explodes when I think of those fortunate enough to purchase the backwards compatible version are able to play such great exclusive titles like Ico, Shadow of Collosus, ZONE OF ENDERS, etc... Sony can be in prime position, but my beloved Nintendo knows how to bring in the cash. Without a doubt, Nintendo has the handheld now with 3DS coming, but their next iteration of next-gen, who knows, it could be a game changed, but for now Sony has the chance to gain good ground especially since they can make the PS3 at a cheaper cost, economics of production favours them now.... anywho, that was long

Put simply it cost cash and I am already invested in the Xbox pretty heavily with accessories and games so I can't pull myself to buy it yet.

you sir are missing out on a lot of good games. R&C is good, but youre seriously missing out on a lot of awesome titles. I guess money could be an issue, but then again gaming is a luxury for most people and most of us know full well what it takes to be a gamer.

Kind of off topic, but I hate Sony Style for games. I was in one today and they were trying to sell Prototype for $70 CAD. Assfaces.

@Roto13 imo infamous is better, good thing is you can get both on the ps3 if you wanted to.

I'm the exact opposite in I can't see why I should buy a 360 when I have so much invested in the ps3 and half of the exclusives I wan't on it I can get on my PC.

I know that's a gross overused exaggeration and everything, but you still can't get Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts on PC. And really, that's all that matters.

i'm thinking of purchashing one with uncharted but if they're backordered then it's a no-go.

You sir are wrong, I have 12 megabit connection and when I purchase a movie I can start playing it right away. It only takes 30 min to download SD version so you have get a faster connection before you start complaining about a service that is superb.

For me the only PS3 exclusives that I enjoyed were Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted 2, and God of war III. Besides a while back you could have gotta 360 elite with 2 games.But ay, if you want a PS3 now is the right time.

@MrDestructoid try out infamous if you can, its a good buy or at least a rent if you have your doubts, but it has its own goodies.

@MrDestructoid inFamous is great. Uncharted 1 is very good too. Also PIxeljunk Monsters is incredible, PIxeljunk Eden is very good too.

I also liked Heavenly Sword, but I borrowed it. It's pretty short, if you are going to get it, either rent it or get it very cheap. Even $30 is too much, probably want to get down to about $15.

That's an excellent selection to choose from, I have to say.

Sony seems to make the 120GB hard to find. The 250GB is easy to find. I just said F*$@ it and I bought the 250GB. Conspiracy to get people to buy the more expensive version? Although I did manage to fill up the hard disk with demos so I don't regret the extra cash. At least I don't have to play the constant memory management game like I do on my PSP and Wii.

FYI: The backordered thing was a website error yesterday night. Both models (120GB & 250GB) are in stock right now as I type this.

Might just do this as my ps3 just broke(Yellow light:-( Does anyone have a semi fix so I can at least get my pix/videos/saves off? I would REALLY appreciate it, just reply to this post!).

@tkashur my friend sent it to a guy that fixes them on ebay , he fixed it for like 60 and its still working ...you can try that i suppose.

@tkashur Buy a heat gun and thermal compound and reflow it. Google for YLOD guides. It has worked for me. Its simple if you're comfortable with breaking down electronics.
