This new Enslaved trailer is decidedly epic
32
Ninja Theory's upcoming action-adventure title, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, has freed up a new trailer and boy is it epic. We're talking big, bold words, narration Don LaFontaine would be proud of and plenty of slow-mo badassery. Break your shackles, vault on past the break and absorb every epic second through your eye muscles.

Yeah I gotta say, I haven't heard much about this game beyond some screenshots and this trailer but it looks very interesting. Seems like it will have a very solid story, combined with good action. Definitely will be watching out for reviews.

Kinda agree with this. Still interested, but will wait for the reviews.

Very impressive voice acting. Sounds almost theatrical.

Surprisingly, you don't see a lot of game trailers that try to mimic the most generic movie trailers of all time.
-Insert deep voiced anonymous voiceover-
1. Start with a question.
2. Answer with state of conflict.
3. Smack them in the face with some BOLD TEXT!
4. End with a big monster that is either roaring or charging toward you... or both.
However, despite how generic it is, it still seems like a nice game. I'd check it out.

Well, I can definitely see the Uncharted influences (which really is a good thing), and the animation seemed really good in some places, I COULD ACTUALLY READ HER LIPS when she said "this was my home". Looks like a good buy for me, although I really would have preferred a Heavenly Sword 2.

I'm not trying to create any sort of anger or controversy from this, but the game seems like what the Prince of Persia reboot COULD have been like in terms of action and plot (although not with the robots and such).

Haha, I'm definitely not against robots in Prince of Persia. I just meant that the two games seem to me to be very similar in play style only Enslaved has robots and PoP has magical enemies and that Enslaved seems like it might be executed better.

This is MUCH better than the previous promotional footage. A game that looked to be little more than a 10-hour escort mission (with an annoying girl yelling at you) had no appeal to me...at all.
The way this is presented however, with the man protecting the woman not out of obligation, but because he cares for her, is a much more intriguing premise.
I may have to give this game a try. :)

Couple things.
One, why is it called Journey to the West or whatever if they're already in the west?
Two, why are they slaves? Seems like robots are pretty much capable of anything there. Are they like sex slaves?
This game looks dumb.

errr...
What was "epic" about that video? A big boss at the end? Big Empty scenery? Honestly- What made the writer declare this to be "epic"? Spartacus was Epic. Ben Hur was Epic. Lawrence of Arabia was Epic. Gone with the Wind was Epic.. at least that one massive camera pull back of all those bodies!... LotR was sorta digitally "epic" as was 300 in all its digital flimflam.
Seriously~ what the flip was epic about this video? The music?

I'm actually worried. This game was supposed to have some big budget and a major focus on being more film-y than game-y but I really can't tell the difference. Mind you, the voice acting and facial capture are awesome but if they really have a professional screen writer writing the script they got gypped. That dialog leaves much to be desired.
I still want to love this game, there are some seriously refreshing elements (Like a full color palette.) that make it something I'm looking forward to. But this trailer was corny epic, not awesome epic.
Please be good Enslaved, I'd like to have an adventure game bonanza this year.

Game looks incredible, I'm concerned that all footage seems to be 360 but I pre-ordered it at BB.ca to get the 800 reward points. Hope I get the pre-order skin that the US is getting.
