Bioshock infinite looks like it has taken over Joystiq's front page. I for one welcome our new airborne overlords.

I for one can't wait until people stop using the "I for one welcome our new overlords" jokes.

Bioshock 2 is like the traditional decent Hollywood movie sequel. It's fun, and polished, but it manages to completely lack the soul and impact of the first one.

@Courtney I disagree, Bioshock 2 is better than Bioshock in all ways but story. The combat of the first was poor enough to distract me from the brilliance of everything else, whilst the seconds was just better handled.

@Faemir Please never say something like BioShock 2 is better than BioShock... That's just... Sure, people can have opinions but not ones like this that are so blatantly wrong...

About half way through I started thinking "hey, this sounds like it's going to be like the same vein as Final Fantasy with completely different games but all of them with common themes and elements." and then he said that!
Great minds... :P

"You saw a sequence in the bar, where you come in and people don't immediately attack you. And that's actually meaningful to what we're trying to do with this game. I'm not going to go into a huge amount of detail here but this is not a city that's as devolved as Rapture and I think that presents real challenges for us on the development side and it also presents real new opportunities for the gamer and a very different experience than BioShock."

It may be enigmatic but i would like to lodge my bet that there will be an almost mmo like experience possibly, hopefully. Obviously not an MMO in the vein of WoW but perhaps one that did the same as Test Drive and bring the term MMO to something that isn't just RPGs.

BioShock 1 was unique and awesome at the time, then they got kinda hyped on the amazing response towards the game and released BioShock 2 which was pretty much same s**t different disc.... 2012 seems like a far long time to be announcing a game, for all we know it can get pushed back Fall 2012 or the dreaded Spring 2013

Okay, so I was more pessimistic in my comment on another BI article, but Levine's comments allay that a little bit...but only a little bit.

I'll admit, I was one of the people hoping for another purely original IP.

Oh, and hey, is there a release window for this thing? If they've been working on it since B1 was announced, I would have to think it's pretty far along.

Awesome work on slipping in the System Shock begging.

I mean, hell..call it BioShock X as you suggested to avoid any legal issues and get on with it.

RC cars and awesome new Bioshock news. i'd say it's the best news day in some time. ...ok the RC car thing is just kind of interesting to me, but i'm actually excited about Bioshock Infinite.

Irrational did such an amazing job with Rapture in Bioshock and it was all backed up with great gameplay mechanics. it's an intriguing environment in the hands of a more than capable developer. and seriously?! skylines? 60mph jousts in the sky? yes please!

"We don't just work from a design document; it's just not our way."

So is that why Tenenbaum showed up at the start of Bioshock 2 only to never be heard from again throughout the rest of the game?

@Vault Boy I've never played System Shock but after seeing Bioshock, Bioshock Infinite, and what XCOM is looking like, give me the storylines and mood that Ken Levine and co. can create, in a space setting. Throw in some spacefaring (not Mass Effect space opera style), some 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the hint (and maybe a later reveal) of some alien life, and I'd pre-order 12 copies right now.

After playing the "Mothership Zeta" add-on in Fallout (even though it wasn't AMAZING), we need a game with the attention to story, environment, and characters like Bioshock or Fallout, set entirely in a locale that isn't Earth.

I'm waiting for a company with the storytelling ability of IG to create something with some hard sci-fi leanings.
