@Faceless Troll

A couple of the vaults also explain the origin of the Capital Wasteland version of the Super Mutants. Where they started, why they're so angry, and even why some of them grow to 10 stories tall.

sear was surely too busy posting a searingly long wall of text in a comment section when he could've been seeing that content, though.

@sear You are not just posting your opinion. You are complaining about being downvoted. Then saying things like, "Oh, personal insults. How cute. Go away, please, you bore me." What part of opinion is that? This is a public forum you should know that telling people to leave will just make more people down vote and counter troll your defenses. Your original post was opinion, maybe you should have left it at that.

But I think that most people don't care about plot holes in games or RPG's. Judging by the amount of people who enjoyed the game and the reviews it got, I think most people would agree. Instead of over analyzing the story looking for plot holes how about looking for positive aspects of the story like the side missions, audio tapes, notes and world atmosphere? What about the DLC that added a lot to the storyline? Most games are not reviewed based on if the plot makes sense but if the game is fun or not.

Highly looking forward to New Vegas. As someone who loved the first two games (and still enjoyed the third) everything I've been seeing gives me the impression this is what fallout 3 should have been. With obsidian doing the work but not having to worry about their own engine, I'm incredibly excited for this.

Yeah... but why didn't they use id Tech 5 for the game instead of a shitty outdated (graphically) engine?

Well... I'm still going to buy and I'm still going to think it's an awesome game... But for the next one please use other or just upgrade the graphics and get some actual Animator's to work on the game...

why wouldn't they use a engine that's not even been tested yet? An engine that's being built specifically for RAGE which isn't due out until next year?

@Cleric

It's not built specifically for Rage, as Gears is not build specifically for Unreal. Rage is just the showoff of the engine, and I know id wouldn't let anyone use it before Rage's out, because they need to show people what it can do.

What I meant was... just use another darn engine or just upgrade your's! It's been 2 years, did you see what uncharted did in 2 years of work? Did you see what Mass Effect, Gears did? Everyone upgrades their game so it looks competitive out there....

Do you recall all the trouble ID was having a while back fitting the content of RAGE on DVD9s?

I don't know if Obsidian would be willing to restructure the game in to chunks so they could fit it on consoles.

Plus, though Mr. Schramm note the "new models" and "animations," a lot of it looks rehashed or lightly modified. They already had a ton of assets to work with, this way.

I loved Fallout 3, got the original 1000. But I look at New Vegas and it looks like an expansion, I'm sure the engine hasn't changed much and textures are being re-used, how is this different to the game I played 2 years ago?

I agree, while there probably are improvements, it doesn't seem different enough for me to get excited about. I guess i'll have to rent it.

The new setting is enough to get me interested.

My least favorite part of Fallout 3 was... the wasteland. The empty expanses were just so boring and depressing. I mean, I understand that's the point, but it always felt weird.

It always seemed to me that, under the circumstances given, humanity would've died out completely or managed to rebuild more competently. New Vegas at least seems to offer a land where people have made more of a civilization for themselves than the shitheap scrap piles of the Capital Wasteland.

The last preview (and the Fallout 3 looking screenshots) made me think I was in for more of the same but this post has my nether regions frothing in anticipation (or possibly a serious undiagnosed medical condition - does anticipation feel like burning?).

Also, it sounds like the story in New Vegas starts off in a much more interesting way than Fallout 3, I hope that momentum keeps up throughout the game. Fallout 3 was great but the main story was fairly forgettable, especially compared to some of the fantastic sidequests (I'm looking at you The Replicated Man).

I always wished the Blade Runner reference in that quest went further than the title.

It would've been neat to track the guy down by giving the people you meet some sort of pseudo-Voight-Kampff test.

I just hope the FPS aspect is better, you know a little auto aim (a la halo 3), or at least somethin smoother... Because it was really stiff and basically forced me to vats... which sometimes blows.

yea the game was def ment to be played in VATS, unless your are sneak killing raiders or anyone with a head, VATS was the only way to actually kill anything. The shooting mechanics weren't terribly bad, they just weren't good for the FPS side of the game

@Bacon Deity I actually think they went on record saying that they implemented actuall down the sights view when it came to aiming, so maybe that'll help. But I'm in total agreement, hopefully they tweaked the genera aiming so that it's smooth and not so clunky.

Word, but it won't mean jack shit if it still feels like I'm aiming a rusty, non-oiled, robot. I mean, you could look down the sites with the sniper rifle in F3, but that didn't help much. Basically, aiming down the sites increases the accuracy of the gun relative to where its pointing, but not where you want it to point, haha!

I'd like to see the VATS limb selecting on 360 improved. So many times in FO3, I'd be trying to select a weak point, and no matter what direction i hit, it would sail right over it over to the other arm or whatever. Very frustrating.

@MLS

I had a lot of similar issues on PC.

If I was having a problem with the game, it probably happened before, during, or after using VATS.

Freeze ups, stuttering movements, stuttering sound, jumpy selection of body parts and, finally, crashes!

Hopefully ironing out that junk is what Schramm meant by "smoother."

Just to let you guys know, I'm done. I posted an opinion and tried to argue it with evidence, but it seems you'd rather throw around personal insults. That's your deal, not mine. If you want to call me an idiot, or stupid or whatever, great, have fun with that. I'll be content with the knowledge that nobody here is actually interested in arguing their own opinions logically and convincingly.

Here's a fun thought experiment for you now that you'll have a bunch of time freed up that you would have spent on Joystiq: Think way back to a time when you didn't see an argument as an opportunity to garner attention, when maybe you actually wanted people to consider your opinion rather than just get a reaction from them. Once you're in that thought space (go ahead, I'll wait), think about what a douche the present you comes off as and how crying that no one cares about your opinion when it's doubtful that you care about it is more than a little sad.

Agree with @sear about the storyline.

I've never felt so embarrassed to be a gamer when in Fallout 3 I was running around a VR simulator trying to liberate my father's mind from the body of a dog.

I did thoroughly enjoy the game while I was avoiding the main story, however.

Ive had Fallout 3 since release and im still playing it. I never finished the story though. I have started 3 different games, the first two with about 40 hours of play. The one im playing now is at around 35 hours. I just get side tracked, exploring and such, and never get around to the story. I start over with the intenet of completing the main story line but it just never happens.

I'll pick up New Vegas day one and im sure I will love it. I'll probably do the same thing with that game as well. I dont care though, the games (well fallout 3 only I guess) are fun to me.
