Lord of the Rings: War in the North trailer displays orcish brutality

We feel like Orcs caught a bad rap in Tolkien's flagship fantasy franchise. Sure, they're not the nicest of dudes -- but do they deserve to be senselessly butchered, like in the trailer for Snowblind Studios' action-RPG Lord of the Rings: War in the North, posted below? We certainly don't think so.

Wizards are super common in Lord of the Rings, right?
They aren't like some extra rare species unto themselves, or anything, right?

LOL! Orcish Brutality! 'Cause there are Orcs in Lord of the Rings, and it's like, Orc-ish. And there's brutality. Get it? Zing!

Never heard of this game before. Looks interesting though I fear that with what was shown they are merely using the LotR name for their evil end, and not staying true to what Tolkien himself wrote. Unless invisible Elves are in the Silmarillion, they are certainly not in the Hobbit, LotR or Children or Huirin, unless there are other magic rings (but the act of becoming invisible and then not seemed too quick for a ring).
This seems more like a D&D Forgotten Realms Drizzt Do'Urden game, with all the magic used freely within this game.
Either way, I look forward to seeing more, but I'd prefer if they wouldn't ruin the Middle Earth lore and myth that Tolkien created.

@xakari I'm looking forward to this, but I agree. This setting really wasn't the best choice out of what's available. LotR doesn't really lend itself to filling the archetypes needed in a game like this.
Can't have just archer and melee, but mages throwing around forcefields and such just don't belong in the setting.

Five wizards were sent into Middle-Earth by the Valar. That doesn't mean they are the only five magic users in the entire world. Magic users can exist elsewhere (seeing is how there was no explanation of Bombadil's magical songs, he's a point of interest to this defense). It's a world seeped in lore (which this game will probably ignore), but it's wholly unexplored for the most part. That leaves plenty of room for unknown artifacts, races, magics, etc. Granted it's a cop-out to use LotR and not use the most familiar aspects of the IP, but I'm definitely not gonna hate on this game for taking liberties with the IP. This is the company that brought us Champions of Norrath and Return to Arms based on the EverQuest IP... Which full on ignored/mutated the existing lore and shoehorning their engine into a loose adaptation of Norrath, but the games were a hell of a lot of fun. I let go how they violated EQ because well, it's a game and it worked.
For comparison, actual Innoruuk vs Champions of Norrath Inny.

While it looks okay, I can't help but feel this game is a few years too late. LotR is cool and all but I can't imagine this game selling too well.

The only difference that it having been 6-7 years since the Return of the King is that it has given people who first saw LotR in film form a chance to read the trilogy and realise how deep Tolkien took Middle Earth, and how shallow this trailer is making Middle Earth. I unfortunately wasn't familiar with the joy of LotR until the film trilogy (I was young and not familiar with many books) but since then I've read many Tolkien books, and the more Tolkien I encounter, the more shallow this game looks.

@cake really? This wasn't even that cool of a CG trailer. Not compared to Bioshock Infinite, and especially not compared to SWTOR

IMO, this team's delivery of Hack n Slash is only bested by Diablo. Love love love their engine, and look forward to a good hack n slash for this generation (closest so far is DeathSpank... which lacks any form of multiplayer)

The two EA games based on the films were quite successful. The Return of the King game was even enjoyable.
LOTRO has done OK for itself, as far as MMOs go, as well.
Some people claim to enjoy that Battle for Middle Earth RTS, but I've always assumed those were the ramblings of syphilitic minds.
