Why are the demos come days, weeks, or even months after it release on PSN?

@reversecycology

Hello Games is a really small indie team. They probably didn't have the time and resources to complete both at the same time.

It's true that not all games have demos on PSN, but most do. Scott Pilgrim and Death Spank are two recent examples of games that had demos on day one.

@reversecycology Im guessing its a marketing strategy.
It extends public awareness of the game long after its released, like it is now. Joe Danger is mentioned in gaming blogs again wihout dropping the price or announcing DLC. Although, i don't doubt that those will happen sooner or later.

@Mayor West

DeathSpank is multiplatform and scott pilgram will be (I would hazard a guess it was planned to be but they wern't accepted as part of hte summer of arcade)

They have day 1 demos because XBLA stuff requires a demo.

IMO this is a good thing requiring a demo and sony should follow suit, but i think it will end up with MS doing it Sonys way for the next generation :(

Oops, I meant, how come most PSN arcade exclusives like Joe Danger, Fat Princess, Flower, Trine, and the list goes on, don't release free trials the same day of release. And I don't buy that "small dev" excuse because there's Xbox Live Indie Games which are smaller but all of them have free trials day one. Sony and PSN needs to get it together.

@reversecycology; Microsoft requires all XBLA games to have trials.

And really, when you think about it, they aren't demos. They require no extra development time whatsoever. It all amounts to downloading the full game that has a limit to what you can do or how long you can play, and then 'unlocking' it by downloading a small bit of data if you choose to buy it.

There really is no reason PSN games don't do it the same way, other than Sony not requiring it.

@reversecycology

It cost money to put those demos on the PS Store so a small company like Hello Games most likely couldn't afford to put a demo out on day one.

Hopefully these 1 hour trials prove themselves on the PS Store and PSN games move towards that direction for a demo.

I wish the game was available to buy on Amazon, I have oodles of credit there. Deathspank is another I'm waiting for.
Any ideas why some PSN games take forever to become available on Amazon?

@acefondu

That's true, but I may also want to gift these games.

Still wondering why some games are available almost immediately while others remain MIA.

perfect. I really wish that all PSN titles would have trials like the XBLA games. Can't wait to try out this game.

Might check this out but $15 is kinda steep. Wish it were $10 at the most.

My thing is they make demos for game shows all the time. It may not be the final version but why not release those game show demos on psn after or around release of a game. They can't say they don't have the resources since they built a demo already.

I was on the fence as to whether or not this would be worth $15 for a while. I made a leap of faith a couple weeks ago based on the strong word of mouth and bought it.
It was, without a single shred of doubt, the best $15 I ever spent on the PSN store. Worth every penny. The game is like crack, I am hopelessly addicted. The compulsion to retry your last run or go for one more star is overpowering. And you will never, ever get tired of seeing Joe get hurt. Not ever. Which is good, because it will happen a lot.
