Rock Band 3 gets 10 more songs: Bob Marley, Slipknot, Roxette and more

Eurogamer has revealed 10 more songs that we'll be playing in Rock Band 3, and the list is all over the place -- Bob Marley, Roxette and Slipknot join eclectic groups like Mexico's Maná and Germany's Tokio Hotel. The music game series is definitely stretching the limits of its title, although "rock" as a genre can be pretty widespread anyway. You can find the full list of new songs after the break.

These 10 tracks bring the list of known songs in the game to around 40, about half of the 83 to be included on the disc. And if that's not enough, you'll also be able to import songs from all of the previous Rock Band games, including the Rock Band Network and LEGO Rock Band. So there'll definitely be no shortage of music to play when the game comes out on October 26 this year.

What about it in particular? The lack of super awesome shredding guitar solos? The lack of a thumping beat so that you can dance to it? Or the lack of a rapper whose vocal style is to sound like they're not actually trying at all?

Please, do tell me what the most incredible man in the universe did wrong that you could do better.

7/10 of those songs were added because of the piano periph.

5/10 of those songs are just insanely awful.

2/10 of those songs are just 'O.K.'

1/10 of those songs are classics but go on forever and would be incredibly boring to play.

9/10 of those songs should be DLC.

Not impressed.

Figure out which are which for yourselves. Rock Band 3 is looking pretty awful.

Don't like it, don't buy it. I'll buy it and so will millions of others. Harmonix will keep making DLC for you guys who don't want RB3.

I'm expressing my displeasure with these songs because 'pro mode' is being wasted on them. And if you think for a second that all that old DLC is going to be pro mode compatible, you're kidding yourself.

So you're saying that in order for me to not be pretentious I have to agree with you?

That's awfully pretentious.

The reality is this: Pro Mode and the new peripheral are the only reasons to get RB3. All of the little advantages they are introducing could be patched in to RB2. The problem that I'm seeing with RB3 is that the two reasons to get the game hinge ENTIRELY on the song selection.

It's like this. You don't get Beatle Rock Band because it has 3 mic support if you don't like The Beatles. If you're not going to give me a VERY good reason to pay $60 for the songs on the disc you're not giving me a very good reason to go out and buy your $300 guitar peripheral.

Look around the web. You see people going "OOO MAN THAT >ONE< SONG I REALLY LIKE IS IN THIS GAME but... oh man the rest of this stuff just isn't good at all."

They need to surprise everybody with something big. Some Led Zep or some Pink Floyd. Something that would make everybody go "Oh. Now I will pay $360 for this game."

@Credge Your opinion is valid. The problem is that you're trying to dictate to other people that some songs are 'better' than others.

You're probably like a lot of us in that if /you/ were in charge of the song list, there would be many bands and songs that people have never heard of. That's fine. What you have to realize is that you are _not_ in charge of the song list for this game.

Harmonix has made a business out of making music games that appeal to broad ranges of music lovers. If _you_ don't like what's out there yet, that's totally fine, but bear in mind that there are lots of other people who already do.

Don't try to tell us that some of our favorite songs are "insanely awful". That's where you fail.

It's about time Bob Marley received his fair due. But the rest is pretty meh.

Yeesh, so far I am not impressed in the least by the tracklist for this game. Glad to see INXS on that list though!

And Rock Band has Dio and The Doors while Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock has Fallout Boy and My Chemical Romance.

Both games will have great rock acts and ones that suck.

And there is nothing wrong with Bob Marley

I wish I could delete the Bob Marley. There's hardly anything worse than reggae.

Still enjoying the fact that they have yet to admit Phil Collins is in the game, when Sussidio is one of the initial screenshots.

But hey, I'm enjoying Rock Band 80s there.
