Head past the break for the latest Marcus PSP spot, which sums up the new initiative in the young lad's typical succinct fashion while simultaneously trashing the iPhone. Early preparation for the new Ericsson?
Sony reveals more titles for PSP Favorites, new Marcus PSP TV spot
27
Back on June 1, Sony announced a new line of budget-priced titles for the PSP, dubbed PSP Favorites. Each game will only set consumers back $9.99, and today Sony revealed the new packaging that will grace these budget titles and plans to bulk up its line-up well into the holiday season. Consumers can look forward to reduced prices on Burnout Legends, Capcom Classics Collection: Reloaded, Capcom Classics Collection: Remix, Dark Stalkers: Chaos Tower, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Medal of Honor: Heroes, Sid Meier's Pirates! and more.

The way Marcus said "sucka" made me think he was going to follow that with "I pity da foo'!"
Several of the titles listed in the blog post have been in the PS Store's sale section for a few weeks now at the $9.99 price point. I guess the sale price is going permanent.

That's right Sony, demand that I like the PSP instead of giving it innovative features that would truly garner interest in the hardware.
You can't hate on Apple for supporting its downloadable marketplace and applications better than you have. Seriously, it took 4.5 years for me to be able to play a Tetris on my PSP and the software support is really lacking. PSP has had the same disfunctional web browser for 5 years.

It's just an advertisement, no need to get worked up over it. They're not hating on Apple for anything, just trying to say that the iPhone isn't built specifically for gaming like the PSP is. Albeit in a more aggressive manner.
I'd imagine that Tetris wasn't a priority on their list. Even my calculator can play Tetris, so they have a lot of free competition over it. Anyway, since they focus on more computationally intensive games as the main feature of the PSP, I think it's regrettable but understandable that other features aren't pushed as much.

I feel the same way! Not to say that Sony has a bad service, but when it comes to support for the PSP there sort of late in the game. There is so much that the PSP is capable of. I really look foward to the PSP2 in hopes that Sony will there game up and improve there service and game support at the same time listen to there consumer fanbase. If Sony were to do this they could be at par in sales with DS and no have to worry about Apple.

I can hear Marcus saying *Step your game up* right now!

I recently sold my PSP. Marcus and lower prices on titles I don't want won't make me regret my decision. Sony knows 2011 is the year the PSP 2 must arrive. Maybe a partnership with Google (Android) could revive the PSP platform.
The PSP is on life-support and a black kid acting like it's 2006 and the PSP is the sh!t won't change that. Even Nintendo, as successful as they are with their portable DS platform knew it was time for the next gen. It's time for the PSP2 sucker!!!

Got a feasible solution for the next hardware? I ask this because obviously you have the answers, kind of. Except for a few key points. Be sure to follow along.
1. PSP in many regions is still doing well. Getting PSP owners to PAY for the games they play is a whole other challenge and one which hit DS pretty hard too.
2. 3DS is still in spec mode, nothing is set in stone, and it might be wiser to see where the hardware and focus is REALLY going to go. After all, will Nintendo finally treat their online service as something beyond a joke? Early interviews say yes, but we've seen those interviews twice before.
3. The graphical leap from a PSP to a 3DS is essentially the equivelant of jumping from a PS2 to a Wii. Right now, graphically, PSP is fine and they would be much better served to see how the changing market conditions will go.
4. Launch PSP2 right before 3DS? Are you beyond stupid, son? If Nintendo goes into a March launch, PSP's old launching pad, Sony has more breathing room. We know a PSP2 is in the works, plan and simple fact. But showing AFTER Nintendo and launching BEFORE is just asking for Sega Saturn 2.0.

PSP doing well!?!
Where did I say Sony should launch the PSP 2 before the 3DS ?!? I just said Sony knows 2011 is the year the PSP 2 must arrive. I wish they had made an announcement in June like Nintendo, but they were probably afraid they would lose sales to kids like Marcus who don't know better. Well, at least Marcus gets paid by Sony to act like the PSP is all that, even if it's not. Like I said in my previous post, maybe a partnership with Google using the Andriod platform will revive Sony's portable gaming platform.

I don't think we'll be seeing a PSP2 until late 2012, fall. I used my magic 8 ball. Besides, who is complaining about the games really maturing on the system? What's wrong with a longer life cycle? I remember when I thought Wipeout Pulse was a great looking, great playing game.
Look at what we have today. I play my PSP every day and I use every function on the thing. Is the frequency of new games that cater to my tastes meet my expectations on the PSP? No. As a matter of fact it's just as bad as my Wii with respect to titles catering to my tastes, however my PSP allows me to do more, play games of high quality and have it's own classics online to download.
When the successor comes though, it's going to be worth the wait.

The only reason Sony made this ad was because people are using their iPhone for more than gaming.
I'm a former PSPer who now plays all my portable gaming on the go with my iPhone. I don't really need an amazing console-like experience (which the PSP RARELY ever gave me) on the go. I don't have that much time to play games when I'm not at home and so iPhone games are perfect for me.
If I want to play God of War I have my PS3.

Marcus doesn't suck. The PSP sucks. So watching him act like the PSP is amazing makes you hate him. If the PSP was awesome these wouldn't fall so flat. The fact is that iPhone gaming sales are killing the PSP right now.
They should have waited for the PSP2 / PSPhone to bust out the major advertising.

Actually, I like the PSP, as do many others. PSP is great tech that SOMEHOW competes technically with the latest iPhone. I mean you want a point of shame, many PSP games look better, on five year old hardware, than a whole lot of iPhone games. It seems only really Carmack is looking at the iPhone for what it can do instead of "what's been done on Newgrounds" for their game designs.
