Might & Magic Heroes 6 announced, slated for 2011
23
Ubisoft has announced that the sixth installment of the Heroes of Might & Magic franchise -- somewhat awkwardly titled Might & Magic Heroes 6 -- will be headed to PC next year. The game is being developed by Black Hole Entertainment, most recently known for Warhammer: Mark of Chaos and its expansion Battle March, and will feature turn-based gameplay mixed with RPG elements. It takes place 400 years before the events of Heroes of Might & Magic 5 (released in 2006) and revolves around "a family of heroes in a thrilling, epic story where Angels plot to revive an unfinished war."

Awesome! Just logged onto HoMM 5 this morning wondering if I would ever see another version of the game.

Cool...I guess? I didn't even know there was a 1 through 5 in the first place, but the screenshots looked interesting. Seems like a turn-based strategy game, which I totally dig. I do wish the trailer could have at least been a teeny bit insightful though, instead of showing a cutscene that tells me diddly squat.

Do yourself a favor and grab what i think is the best in the series: Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete. The campaign is really tough, but the standard multiplayer maps against AIs is a lot of fun and the game is really cheap now. Only in the last 3 weeks have i gotten into Heroes 5 and i'm really liking it now after disliking the demo, but to me Heroes 3 will always be the best.

This man speaks the truth.
One of the finest Turn Based Strategy games out there. If not the finest.

The screenshots look just like King's Bounty, which is a very good thing.

what keeps them from porting it to the consoles? aside from marketing reasons maybe?

Someone seriously needs to reboot the original Might and Magic stuff. Not everyone likes strategy games and the original RPGs were considered legendary. Can't be THAT hard to go for a 'best of both worlds' thing here, especially considering that they already have access to some pretty amazing engines that could fuel them well.

Heroes has sucked since 3 IMO.
I really wish they would go back to the basics, and stop adding in random unnecessary crap

LOL! A Sham-Wow commercial plays after the game video.
But yeah, I thought HOMM3 was the best by far as well. 4&5 were fun, but I hope this one is like 3.

@ben linus Nothing can possibly hope to top Konami's E3 press conference/hallucinogenic train-wreck, and you know it.

The series has really shit the bed after moving development to Ubisoft, but I'm still excited to see if it lives up to its potential.

I really hope this gets spared the Ubisoft DRM, that way I can actually buy it.

I actually got introduced to the HoMM games thru the Hero Chronicles series. All that 3rd edition HoMM stuff was great.
I am with the folks that wish they would take the series back to its 3rd edition era.

I may be aging myself here but I started playing HoMM when the first one came out. I have loved the series since the beggining, I have never played one I didn't like (I never played the PS2 version),
I agree with most people though HoMM 3 is the best and HoMM 4 is the worst (I still liked 4 though, it just was not nearly as good). I really like HoMM 5 also, they did a lot to fix the things they screwed up in HoMM 4.
