Suda 51 announces 'Sine Mora' for XBLA, PSN

Suda 51 just announced Sine Mora for PSN and Xbox Live Arcade this evening at Gamescom. The horizontal space shmup is being co-developed through a new partnership between Suda's Grasshopper Manufacture and Digital Reality. Grasshopper will provide art direction, music and sound. Digital Reality, perhaps best known as the developer of the Imperium Galactica games, will be publishing the title. The partnership between the two companies will also include "a range of [other] titles," though no information about further releases was forthcoming.

Sine Mora is scheduled for a worldwide Q3 2011 release and will support 3D in the PSN version. The lack of major announcements at this year's convention prompted Suda to joke that "this is going to be the biggest announcement of this Gamescom."

Lack of major announcements? What was ME2 on PS3 then, chopped liver?

I really don't see the hubub over Mass Effect 2 on PS3. It's great PS3-only players will finally get to play it, but it's a year later without the original. And IMO, the original was the better game. It's cool, but it's not a major announcement as far as I'm concerned.

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One on the other hand ... now that's major!

@LockeDaemonfire Chopped liver is actually a good meal when you haven't been getting your RDA of iron recently. ME2 on PS3 is more like a big unrefrigerated bag of asparagus.

Yeah, I agree. I'm sure it will sell well, but I'll invest in a new PC just to get the full experience... Still, it's nice to see more titles going to the PS3.

Also, I completely agree with you on the Insomniac announcement(s). I'm a huge fan of their work.

But I would much rather play multiplat games on the 360, to be quite honest. That's my preference really.
That's why I got a PS3 and a Wii. Exclusives, exclusives, exclusives.

Suda working on a shmup!? rar, relevant to my interests! I want some information and screens now~! Although I'm not really familiar with Digital Reality, so I'm cautiously optimistic, I'm sure with Suda at the helm, things will be great.

Who cares? His games aren't very good. The only reason people get all excited over them is because there different. Different does not equal good. Whatever. Thats just my opinion. And who cares about my opinion? I do! Now shut up! Ok

I can only imagine how crazy this game would be.

Before anyone messes it up, I would like to point out that this is pronounced "sin-eh mora," not like "sign mora." Thank you. It is Latin for "without delay."

Yes, it's first declension so the dictionary entry is "mora, morae"

I'm not a big fan of shmups, but if it is Grasshopper, it will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine.

I'm a big fan of scrolling shooters, but I have no experience playing a Grasshopper game. So, I guess I'm in the opposite boat. A submarine, perhaps?

If you're a fan of the kind of intellectually-stimulating, hyper-stylized, off-the-wall weirdness that could only come from Japan, you absolutely must check out Suda's other games.

horizontal shmup! there's not enough of those. someone should be taking advantage of widescreens.

He should be able to handle a side-scrolling shooter. The problem I have with his other work is that it looks like he always has really ambitious ideas that he only completes 30% of.
This one might be cool.
