Check out some new-but-familiar maps (hey, it's the Facility!), guns (hey, it's the RCP90!) and features (hey, it's Paintball Mode!) in the trailer posted after the jump. Or, if you're interested in the game's single player campaign for some reason, you can check that out in the nifty galleries posted even further after the jump.
Goldeneye multiplayer trailer and screens take us back

"A new Goldeneye has arrived," the trailer below matter-of-factly states, "so what are you going to do?" That, Mr. Trailer, is an awfully open-ended question. We imagine we'll stick to our usual routine of waking up at noon, then turning on whatever television station is currently running an America's Next Top Model marathon, but -- oh, we see. That's one of those rhetorical questions. We're supposed to say "multiplayer, of course," and then you show a bunch of clips from Goldeneye 007's multiplayer component. Sorry for the confusion.

Dude what are you talking about.
If this game has good online (which I have my serious doubts), this could easily be one of the most fun games to launch in a long time.
A friend and I played multiplayer on Nightfire SO much.
I'm assuming this game would have even better multiplayer and hopefully a decent online.
Sure the graphics aren't all that snazzy, but who gives a rip if it's fun!
PS. Daniel Craig could whoop yo ass hardcore

The nostalgia will only last until you start the game and realize it has nothing to do with the original N64 Goldeneye. Then the crying will start...
Posted: Aug 20th 2010 9:12PM DarknessBear said
@VanNorden Why doesn't it make any sense? The entire game has nothing to do with the original Goldeneye. There are only a few (1-2 second) parts that resemble slightly the N64 version. Like dropping in from the vent onto the guy in the toilet stall - and then the rest of the level is completely different.

@Hayseboi Ahh! I did. Little Dead Space 2. And I'll most likely do a 'Goldeneye' and remake LDS1 for LBP2. And some other stuff... we'll see.

@VanNorden As good as? Have you played the N64 version lately?
It looks like a complete piece of shit, especially in comparison to this.
How does using a different character model (that you don't see since it's first person) "rape" the game?

Well, it starts by slyly sneaking up on the original, and slippnig a crushed GHB pill in to its drink... Oh... That was a rhetorical question.
I've never felt the love for Goldeneye. Then again, I didn't play it until after I'd already played Half-Life... and Doom.

To everyone saying this version "rapes the game", have you actually gone back and played the original goldeneye lately?
Clunky controls, extremely poor multiplayer map design, fog everywhere, 10FPS in 4 player splitscreen...
What this game is, isn't a remake. It's a REIMAGINING. They're throwing in nods to the original game, making maps that are similar but much better designed, and trying as hard as they can to keep the "soul" of the game intact while applying 13 YEARS of first person shooter evolution.
I, for one, am looking forward to this game.

This game looks pretty awesome if you ask me. I know I'll be picking this up just for the 4-player splitscreen, that will be tons of fun with friends.

wow really... i dont even know if i should take gamers this gen seriously at all or not.
you're comparing one of the FIRST popular multiplayer FPS on a console and all you can say is that its level design was bad because of some fog?? nobody knew how to make good balanced/level design maps back then, but even thats not what made the game awesome, it was the multiplayer experience in general

That's kind of the point I was trying to make. Everyone wants a game that's just a graphical update of the N64 game, with no changes whatsoever.
I agree completely that it's the feel of the multiplayer is what made it- I never said Goldeneye 64 was bad- just that its very, very outdated now.

have you researched this game at all? Most of the devs prefer the wii-remote nunchuck style and even if you dont you can play it just like all of the first person shooters of today with the classic controller. so yeah, it does have way better controls being on the wii. i think the default setup for the n64 goldeneye was aweful, cant remember which one i used but it was the one where you moved with the C buttons and aimed freely with the analog stick. killed everybody cuz i could aim and strafe at the same time.

Looks like they're implementing some sort of experience system like in the recent Call of Duty games. If done properly, it should put a lot of longevity in the online multiplayer. Let's hope it's as balanced as the developers can make it.

I suppose no matter how well or poorly the game does, the one thing you can't deny is the trailer music is great. I hope's it's somewhere in the game.
Also, I will be reserving judgment until I've played the game. I'm not expecting it to blow my mind, but I don't think it'll turn out to be crap either.

Good God, it's so ugly. I can't get past it. I have a Wii, somewhere. I loved Goldeneye... but God damn it I just don't know if I can force myself to want this. It looks shitty, even for a Wii title. It's like they're relying on everyone's nostalgia so that they can put out a barely polished turd and rake in the dough. I just don't know if I can support that!

Anyway, looks like an interesting concept. I'm looking forward to trying this game out. I doubt It'll be as good as the original was at its time, but we'll see.

So I might have missed the memo: In online, you're playing online with other people, but it's split screen, so you see all 4 people's screens? Or does it mean, 4 people are playing on that console online?

I'm sorry, but this looks terrible. The graphics look dated as hell, you know, if you believe in all that, and the mechanics of the guns makes them seem like toys - the 'click click' fire SFX are laughable and the bullet sprays don't seem to effect the environment or more precisely they don't seem like they make solid contact with anything at all. That's just shoddy, I don't care what anyone says. We're nearing 2011 and this is the best the developer can come up with? It reminds me of those cheap Goldeneye rip-off games - The World is Not Enough, Nighfire etc. I want a Goldeneye game like Crysis...actually, screw this, I'm off to play Crysis. I mean, if you're going to have sub-par graphics the logical thing to do would be to show some great gameplay elements in the trailer. Ugh, look at the slapped on layers....this just looks awful. The textures are poor for God's sakes. Total cash-in rip-off.
