I like how the unlockable difficulty makes it harder by just getting rid of the regenerating health. Subtle acknowledgement from the devs that health regen really is just for pussies.

Yea... I really hope this isn't a whole new game. That will totally defeat the purpose of me being excited about Goldeneye.

If it is a whole new game though, I hope it isn't the same as every other FPS out there.

I'm sure this isn't what GoldenEye fans wanted. They wanted to relive those wonderful memories of staying up all night playing awesome match after awesome match.

This just seems like a title that does not really recognize the legacy, and really, the revolution for FPSs on consoles. That's what this seems like anyway, to me at least.

Well, this IS just a look at the single player. I think that judgment is better left to a topic where they show more multiplayer matches. That's all we care about.

I'm not excited for this game at all. it sounds like their changing too much from the original game. Ill wait to see how it develops more before i make a decision about it though. i hope they don't mess it up

I have no hope for this.. GoldenEye was set after the original GoldenEye film Starring Pierce Brosnan.. Why change this key element ? Daniel Craig has been the worst bond ever, Why change characters ? That alone is just stupid..

What other characters or story did they change ? Remember Boris the Russian Geek, damn he was a pain in the ass. I loved the original Golden Eye my brother and I clocked the game completely I think unlocked everything, we would sit down with friends and play the multi player for hours, even my sister would play the multi player with us... Thats how good it was, any one coming to play would get battered by us.

Some say Halo was the first to push the FPS genres onto consoles, thats complete rubbish.. The first console FPS game was Golden Eye..

I just dont see the point in this remake other than trying to cash into a classic, there is not much else.. The character change alone is enough to ruin the whole notion of the game for me..

Oh yes and finally remember how its always mentioned that Game / Movie Tie-ins suck ? Well everyone forgets how great this game was and its a complete movie tie-in.

Changes are needed do. If you go back to it now i am sure its not that amazing, and all the stuff that was original then is not Original now.
But I agree with you on the character change and they should of stuck with its roots, hay maybe the may have him as an unlockable after you clocked the game.

Iool I thought would be funny if you could change all the characters after you completed the game and they could all be Mii, but that most likely just Mii LOL

I heard they couldn't put Pierce Brosnan due to his contract being sold.

Not sure what that's all about, but I agree that Pierce Brosnan is the better bond.

Oh, and that, and they mentioned in another article that they couldn't make it completely like the original game due to all the rights-problems.
They'd be competing with the rights of Rare and whoever holds the Bond franchise right now.

That's why the multiplayer stages are different from the original.

They said the most they could do is try to capture the feel of the original.
...though I'm unsure regenerating health captures anything near the original. Perhaps they're trying to reach out to the new gamers who've gotten spoiled on regen health?

I'm willing to give this a try... but it really seems to be just "GoldenEye" in name only... It's like it's forgetting it was called GoldenEye because that was THE NAME OF A JAMES BOND MOVIE FEATURING PIERCE BROSNAN.

There might be a chance this could still be good... but I'm rather cautious.

I love my Wii, but i HATE the FPS controls on it.

Don't get me wrong, they work, but not matter how much fiddling around with the sensor bar settings, if i'm holding the controller steady, i'm still getting a jerky gun on the screen.

PLEASE let me play this game with the Classic Controller.

Obviously since they're releasing a special GoldenEye golden controller with the game, it's obviously having Classic Controller.

Oh, and what might be a problem with your Wiimote is either sunlight or certain wireless devices. They can really screw up your sensor bar's connection to your Wiimote.
Trust me, I've never had a single problem with my Wiimote shaking ever since I closed the blinds and kept my cellphone far away.

Well my wii is in my basement, and there's no other devices near or around the sensor bar that would interfere with the wiimote.

Oh... Hmmm...
Perhaps it's just the distance?
Maybe you're sitting further away from the TV than as far as the sensor bar can go? In that case there are a number of 3rd party sensor bars that claim they have longer reach.

Just another attempt to cash in on people's nostalgia for a great old game with a completely unrelated product.

Remember Goldeneye: Rogue Agent? It had nothing to do with Goldeneye. The game just HAPPENED to have a 'goldeneye' device that the player wore for better targeting and a HUD or some silly thing like that. They tried to pass it off as some sort of coincidence.

This is slightly less shameless - slightly. The replacement of Brosnan with Craig is annoying, and the 'cover system' and 'regenerating health' brings forth mental images of Daniel Craig in the Facility popping out from behind chemical tanks and killing dozens upon dozens of russian soldiers until M finally radios in and tells him to rush past the respawning guards to get to the next chokepoint.

You know what they say about Activision being the new EA.

Honestly, I don't mind the covering system. I mind the regenerating health, though.

But seriously, what's with people being offended by a covering system? It's like they think Gears of War invented the covering system! You know what invented the covering system? Real life gun combat. Because people aren't stupid enough to run and gun like in counter strike for real life situations.
Covering system isn't a cash-in tactic, it's something that should have been in FPS/TPS games since the beginning!

Regenerating health, though, IS a cash-in tactic... it's selling to those who've gotten spoiled on FPS/TPS games nowadays.

And just because there's a cover-system doesn't mean you can't get through the game like in the original. Running and gunning will still probably work even if the enemy starts using cover.

What I'm really worried about this title is that it will be just another CoD-like game with a 007-skin on it. After seeing the first five minutes of the game, it looks likely that this will be the case, at least for the single-player. Oh well, the Wii needs all the decent FPS's it can get, as the Wii Remote/Nunchuk combo is excellent for the genre.
