2K Boston was a generic name. Glad they switched it back.

@DeeZeee

I agree, it lacked substance.

"Irrational" "Valve" and "Bungie" are among some of my favorite studio names.

@Shadowbender

Ironically some of the games I like the best come from studios whose names I'm not super-fond of. Retro studios, Uber Entertainment...

Hell, I think Kojima Productions is a cop-out at best.

@DeeZeee How strangley convenient.
I like Naughty Dog, Lionhead and Blizzard. But to be honest I could really name them all, most game developers have cool sounding names:
Bungie, Rockstar, Irrational, Epic, Media Molecule, Remedy, the list goes on...

I want to know what game they were playing that featured underwater horse versus underwater horse combat. And was there an underwater horse versus not-underwater-horse combat table?

How to name your game company:

1. Pick a cool sounding word from the dictionary.
2. Add "Games", "Studios", "Software" or "Entertainment".
3. Google the name. If it's already taken go back to step 1.
4. ???
5. Profit

I've been trying for the last 8 months but I've never gotten past step 3. Damn all these small iPhone companies hoarding all the good names.

Underwater Horse would have given rise to a much cooler 'insignia' or logo, but whatever.

Personally, I think that a name should be somehow important or integral to the company's culture. Then again, a company's culture can grow into the name, so both work over time.
