@KinseySS

Couldn't you just run an emulator on your computer for it? It's not like you can legitimately support the system anymore.

@WINterfang I LOVED the DC, heck it was my favorite system besting even the 360 until I bought a PS3. I blamed Sony for killing the DC even if it wasn't true but the PS3 won me over to Sony's side. Hell I still prefer the Saturn over the PS any day of the week. I had one that just died and I'm debating on buy both a Saturn and a DC to go along with my PS3 and 360.

@Grey It's probably actually easier to just buy the system. Because if you really want to pirate dreamcast games, you can do what killed the system in the first place: play games off of a CD-R.

Actually tbh it looks like I might have to do that for Powerstone 1 & 2... I haven't found either in about 2 years of searching.

I still don't know why I don't look online for my hard-to-find games :/

@Acosta02
Piracy didn't kill the system. A stupid launch period with hardware that was going to be obsolete and offer almost no advantages over the upcoming PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox. If it could play DVDs it might have done better and lasted longer but then again it wouldn't have been as cheap and may not have sold as well.

Was it any wonder that publishers and developers abandoned the system soon after the launch of the PS2?

Don't forget, the Dreamcast broke a good couple records for its time. They were quickly broken again later but still. It had a good launch but it was just a stupid move. I wouldn't even say gamble. It was going to fail no matter what.

Piracy didn't help and it was the first console to get a hit with the modern pirate model in a big way, but again it hardly affected it in the end. The 360 gets pirated way more than it ever did.

As for emulators, it's wiser to play the original GDI image on them than a CD-R version for the console. A lot of things were ripped, downsized, and even eliminated to make them fit.

I think systems and games should be preserved after they're dead. I don't trust any company to do it thoroughly because it just isn't feasible. Remember how hollywood and tv studios lost a good few classics due to poor management.

That said, I don't support piracy but playing old games through emulation is hardly that when said game isn't available for sale. Especially when you own the original to begin with. Most people buy old games again and again when they're re-released on various platforms (Sonic, I'm looking at you). So it's not like emulating old consoles is a threat to anyone.

Emulation DOES NOT EQUAL Piracy!

"Transcending history, and the world, a tale of souls and swords, eternally retold."

I think that fits, given that the console's prototype name was Katana.

Dreamcast - one of the most underrated and under-appreciated console. Glad to see some good news on the console. I'm pretty sure these games would be expensive soon knowing that they are limited only especially for collectors. :)

@MLC Well, There must be a certain level of demand for DC games in order for games to still be released for it ...

I'm a fan of both Nintendo & Sega, so I'm happy when both companies products are successful. I've been happy with my PS2 as well.

Even though you can easily pirate games on the Dreamcast, I can't bring myself to do it. That console is just too legendary. The Xbox 360 on the other hand, I'm fine with.

It's the right time for SEGA Corps to get back into the hardware industry and that means back to the Dreamcast again. Back to making Dreamcast units again because this is the only system that makes a lot of fun games. Take Wacky Races and Shen Mue and Sonic and more! Don't you understand SEGA. Get back to work. First fire your president and get a new president who's not afraid to venture into the hardware industry again. Because the way I see it your current president is coward. All he wants is to make money and not spent that money by making game console or continuing Dreamcast. Fire that coward president and get a new one whose got a future vision for SEGA and make this company great again.

Let the Dreamcast die.

It would be cool if Sega ever did a successor to the Dreamcast, but then that would require Sega actually putting some effort into its games (which lately doesn't seem like a priority anymore).

This is soooo creepy. Its like necrophilia. What's their problem anyway, putting the same games on any console shouldn't be that hard - why the DC?

Oh hey, is that guy's name really Norman Bates?

I'd like it if Sega just focused all their resources & game creation talent on making GAMES & forget about making hardware entirely. The resources saved by not making hardware can be devoted entirely to making more quality Sega brand games.

The Dreamcast has a bad controller, but otherwise it has a decent game library that’s worth preserving.

If they're going to revive it, for goodness sake, release a newer console. The graphics on the dreamcast can't compete with anything today. In fact, it couldn't even compete with it's rivals back-in-the-day. Why revive?

Yes it had a good game selection but apparently it wasn't good enough. If they think anybody except Sega diehards are going to buy it, think again. Kids these days are looking for the next Madden, Halo, Pokemon, and Final Fantasy.

(IMO, Sega is a FANTASTIC game developer. They can really compete with Square-Enix and Nintendo's quality. Stick to it...please. *dodges crowd*)

I supposed if you want to make an unlicensed console game, that's pretty much your most up-to-date option. Still, I can't believe anyone would do something so futile.
