Shattered Dimensions creative head interested in Noir or 2099 Spider-Man game
40
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is like a Costco-size sample platter of four different Spidey universes, but Beenox Creative Director Thomas Wilson wouldn't mind focusing on just one of the wall crawlers for a game. During Gamescom the developer told us that if he could, he would want to focus on Noir or 2099 spidey, but immediately followed it up by saying, "That's not up to us to decide. We're looking with Activision at what's next."
"They're interesting, they're different, they're new," Wilson told us on why he'd choose the lesser-known dimensions. He continued, "I think it would definitely be something interesting." Pssst, Activision -- we agree.

I sat next to this guy who made his own Spidey 2099 suit at Comic Con. Really impressive and some guy from Activition came over and said wanted to make some deal with him.

It would be nice to see something new on the table. We've already had Ultimate and Amazing, so why not a new one? :P

Why does Activision have to decide? Doesn't a game studio pitch an idea that a publisher then likes enough to fund it? Or is it because Activision holds the license?

@TheJohnnyToxin Where's there's Activision, there's a dictatorship. Where there's Activision, there's a nightmare.

I would love a Spider-Man 2099 game... just not by Activision.

Both of these universes are awesome, but I just want more Ultimate Spidey. That game was fantastic.

Here's what you do: Take the open-world of Spider-Man 2, enhance it with up to date graphics, enlarge it, make the world more alive, take the awesome web swinging from SM2, add more acrobatic moves, add motion blur, leave the controls the same from SM2, add more witty one-liners and dialogue, keep the combat but enhance it with more moves and new additions, tell us a new story....Set it in 2009, open futuristic world. Many new villains, and awesome new Spidey suit.
There's your next Spider-Man game.

If they're gonna do Spidey 2099 then they better do "Fall of the Hammer" If your a 2099 fan then you know what im talking about.

That would be interesting from a creative standpoint. But I doubt a company that makes their money from thriving off of sequels and the familiar would allow something as different as a spider-man game solely based on a not-as-popular spider-man.

Maybe one day... we'll get an Iron Man game as good as this one is.

They should do this with Superman.
Dimensions:
Modern Day
Bizzaro World (as Bizzarro)
30th/31st Century (Legion of Super Heroes - technically he would be younger)
Kingdom Come
Instant Win.

Has it been confirmed yet that the special pre-order costumes from the half dozen or so stores will already be ingame, just have to work at it to unlock them?
I notice the "Iron" spidey suit preorder on Amazon is no longer found =(

For all that is right with this world, someone fund this. Someone get Rocksteady started on that after they finish Arkham City. A Batman Beyond game done in the same engine (or a modified one) would be excellent.

See I went SWEET then I found out Activision is steering this dev studio and then I thought of....Infinity Ward.
Success comes with failure.

@cake I just want them to continue the story...
"Okay guys, we're totally not cancelled, come back for the next episo-........"
I hear they're starting up some Batman Beyond comics (if they haven't done them previously). I agree that a well-made game in that universe would rock insanely.

How about being a CREATIVE creative director and, you know, inventing something 'interesting, different and new' from the ground up rather than being Activision's IP-license-biatch.
I don't mean disrespect to these (or any) devs, but unless it really is something extraordinary, either one of the following points is enough for me to avoid the game;
- Activision
- commercial, popular IP (yawn)

Almost everything I've read about this game in previews from E3, Comic Con and other press events has fallen under the guise of "cautiously optimistic". For those who can read between the lines that means in a nutshell, "This game ain't that great, but as a professional game previewer I can't rag on a game that hasn't gone gold yet, so I'll try and say some nice things about it, while ending my preview with a ?" As in 'Can Shattered Dimensions satisfy even the most die-hard Spider-Man fan? Find out in our review next month!"
When that review (and every other reveiw) comes out, then the floodgates of criticism will explode. Mark my words.
Do I have faith that Beenox will be able to pull this off? No. No hands on preview has come away sounding all that positive.
