Halo: Reach campaign co-op matchmaking confirmed
40
Plumbed from the depths of Bungie's latest weekly update by ThatVideogameBlog comes confirmation that Halo: Reach will support campaign co-op matchmaking. In the simplest and, may we say, least Bungie way to do it, public acknowledgment of the expected functionality was given in response to a Bungie.net user asking, "Can I haz Campaign Matchmaking?"
The answer, in one word: "Yes."
And with that, Bungie has confirmed that all three major Reach game modes -- regular ol' multiplayer, Firefight and co-op -- will support the developer's excellent matchmaking experience. Though this news is overwhelmingly good for Halo fans, we're pretty worried about what it'll do to our work days.

um....you could always just play with your friends rather than go into match-making.

yes all of that is true but at least they have also takin steps to corral them with options and such but still thanks for the obvious statements and am also glad that the way they chose to do the achievements especially the legendary one for campaign, that should be fun.

also, let's not forget in Reach you have custom matchmaking settings to choose what kind of people you get into a match with, as long as they're being truthful. So if 6 people who are "serious" "care about having fun" and "are above 18" are looking for a match with you and you're the same things, you don't have to worry about whiny little 12 year olds. This argument has always been obsolete, seeing as how you can mute them, or you know, have 4 or 5 REAL FRIENDS to have on your team

Hey, so any word as to whether or not we're going to get a 4-player split-screen Firefight? Haven't been following the surge of news recently, so I'm not sure whether or not this has been revealed.

PLEASE, PLEASE let this happen. I'm tired of having to rotate between friends to play firefight.

You won't have to worry about what it will do to your work days if you QUIT YOUR JOB in anticipation to buying this game.
That's not counter productive AT ALL.

And here I was thinking I could wait a couple of months after release. Bungie is making it harder and harder to resist buying Reach. Unlike the folks over at Activision, making me want BlackOps less and less.

I saw i love stream of some multiplayer and it looked like you could see your friends who were in custom games when you were just in the matchmaking lobby, so that should make it easier to get into custom game with people.

Cool news for those who are into it but I can't imagine ever wanting to play campaign mode, in any game, with random strangers. Still, having the option there can't hurt.
I guess this is a side-effect of adding match-making to the Firefight mode, which was implemented in ODST out of the campaign mode. Adding matchmaking there probably brought it for free to all modes.
