I have been testing this game since beta 3, all i can say is wow... Think of Baldur's Gate meet's Civ 5.. This TBS fantasy game has the potential to be the next big thing in strategy games. Set in Stardok's CEO Brad Wardell's fantasy world, Story work flushed out in a fascinating partnership with Random House writers, promise's a rich detail world with many potential ways to victory.. Added to this Stardock is shipping the game with an variety of modder friendly tool set (including sharing trough impulse's reactor), 2 promised content updates in the first 60 days, and 2 expansions in the back ground. We may be playing this game in one form or another for years!

Just like we do with Galactic Civilisation. I'm really interested in this game, but don't know if it's my setting. Maybe it's time to lay down the laser and pick up the club.

I know from Gal Civ, and Sins of a Solar Empire as well (even though Stardock just published it) that this game will be like a Great Vampire Time Bat that will suck my job and grades right out of my neck.

I am extremely looking forward to this game. I hope it has a little of the old "Master of Magic" well, magic, in it. I miss games of that type a lot.

Thanks for the preview.

This is a tough proposition when it's sandwiched between Starcraft 2 and Civilization 5. It looks SO awesome though, and I've heard such great things from beta players.... and how could one NOT support Stardock.
Ack!

I suck so bad at strategy games but this looks awesome. It's even more awesome that it comes out tomorrow.

Guess I'll be a little more poor tomorrow.

Beta tester and people who pre-ordered the game can download the full game since last night. Played a bit with the retail copy but not enough to get a real feel on the game. Looking forward to have the wife and kids in bed tonight to spend some quality time with this game...

Hmmmm, the limited edition is $70, I've got a $50 gift card from Best Buy that I've been saving. Wonder if BB will be getting the limited edition one in?

Is it better than Fall From Heaven II?

You can run the full version on Bootcamp. (have been since last night) if you own a Mac, no problems so far. Less in fact than some PC users have. I would point out though that the map is only partially random. The shapes of the continents are set but the layout of the map beyond that IS random. There's more than a good chance a full randomization will be added later or by a mod in the near future based on forum posts.

The game really is fantastic. The built in modding tools pretty much leave the game open ended as far as what it will become, and Stardock has already budgeted a full year of full-time updating and expanding upon what's already there.

The good thing about Stardock, though, is that there is always more to come. They will keep putting support into this, regardless of sales, according to their CEO. And a lot of free content is already planned from now till next year, so this will be a game you play for a LONG time. I already have my pre-order in on amazon (wish I had ordered on Impulse, then I could be playing it right now!!).

Game sounds great and I'm pretty sure it'll play just as well, but the graphics look damned ugly when zoomed in close. Perfectly fine when zoomed out, but during battles they just look barren and odd.

Undoubtedly I'll be buying it regardless though.

On the one hand, the game looks to have a lot of stuff I've been wanting for years and a return to Masters of Magic style gameplay after HoMM's long domination of the genre.

On the other hand, I'm still ticked about the blatant false advertising with Sins of a Solar Empire. They marketed it as a 4x game when it was essentially Warcraft 3 with a space skin. Then they tried to market Demigod as an RTS until they fessed up to it being a DOTA variant less than a month before release.

Point being, I'm definitely taking a wait and see approach on this one, since I trust Stardock about as far as I can throw 'em.

I've been in the beta for about 4 months now,.ie. pre-ordered this beauty. Stardock jsut makes great games, and this game is amazing...the beta was tough and hard to get thru, but you could see all the amazing features being incorporated into the game. I haven't played the tactical battle as yet, but I know it's going to be of the same quality as the rest of the game!

I'm so damned excited for this game. Can anyone here who's played it tell me how it runs on older machines? It doesn't look that gfx-heavy...but it would be good to know if it will make my old abacus chug.
