Sega registers Valkyria Chronicles 3 domain

Sega has registered a Valkyria Chronicles 3 domain name in Japan. As unearthed by Siliconera, the publisher parked valkyria3.jp near the end of May, which is similar to how the company named similar domains for previous entries in the series. Joystiq contacted Sega, but the company didn't have any statement to share on the subject.

For fans of the fantastic Japanese strategy RPG series, the obvious question beyond the legitimacy of a third installment incoming is: Will the game be for PSP or PS3? We hope for the latter, but if Sega can make better returns on the cheaper to develop for handheld ... well, let's just keep hope alive. Perhaps the upcoming Tokyo Game Show will provide answers. Valkyria Chronicles 2 releases in North America on August 31.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 for the PS3 would be amazing.

@Marconi I'd love a full PS3 release, but just a PSN release would work for me. I sold my PSP a while ago, and didn't have the opportunity to play VC2. I don't want to miss VC3.

I posted it on VC's facebook, I hope I get a response from them. I am hoping for a PS3 version with Raita's art again.

Awesome news! Doesn't really matter to me whether it's PS3 or PSP, though PS3 with Remote Play support would be nice. In other VC news, has anyone seen this up on Amazon?

If they make the 3rd one for PS3 is fine with me,but I hope they don't abandon completely the franchise on the PSP D:,I loved the demo for the 2nd one.

i wished they put trophy support for the 1st Valkyria Chronicles and they said they had no plans too but not too far before hand they said it was always possible. i watched my friend play my copy as i had a few other games too get too before i played that he's stuck at the end and he says he loves the game ( i loved the demo ) The Music and Art Style. i Hope it's Exclusive too PS3 ( i doubt it tho ) but i can always hope then this time, they will see more people buy this then the 1st one !

Sounds like they want to keep the franchise in the same vain as SEGA's Yakuza games and keep them PS based. I'd like to believe it'd remain exclusive and give the team more time to focus on the game itself rather than trying to port the engine, making sure all versions are on par, etc. but with this gen, who the hell knows anymore, right? Hoping it stays exclusive though (don't believe everything needs to be multiplatform).

SEGA still needs to announce Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown for consoles (TGS?). Other than that, they're somewhat on a roll.

Sadly, whenever Sega is mentioned anywhere, the only thing people think about are the awful, awful (newer) Sonic games :(

Would help if SEGA marketed their other properties like they did Sonic. SEGA NA doesn't even make an attempt to market their JP stuff, with Platinum Games being the exception (Bayonetta, Mad World)(did Resonance of Fate get marketing?). The first Valkyria Chronicles and the Yakuza games get no marketing whatsoever from them and are tossed into the wild and survive by word of mouth.

If it is VC3, I hope it plays out in real-time if it's for PS3. The semi-turn based system is great for PSP though.

Don't give up hope though, because even if VC3 isn't real time, I'm pretty sure if you squint really hard you'll be able to find a 3rd person shooter game around somewhere this gen
