Classic game show Press Your Luck will have a video game incarnation available starting tomorrow, August 24, on PSN. The game features online and couch co-op for up to three people, along with solo play and over 2,500 trivia questions. The game will likely be $10, but we'll have to wait for confirmation tomorrow.
Sadly, the video game based on the '80s game show does not feature announcer Rod Roddy nor host Peter Tomarken, who died in 2003 and 2006, respectively. However, it does feature the Whammy, whose lifeforce is filled through human suffering and a steady diet of $100 bills. Check out a video of the game after the break.

Wow, how'd they get Wanda Sykes to appear in the game?

Totally awesome. Too bad the original had a bug where the "random" blinking was in a very predictable order.

This one better have the sound effects of the board unlike the Wii version. Seriously, big bummer for me. :(

@Dao Jones Yeah, not having that or the actual theme music was kind of a bummer. What drives me insane (and has kept me from playing it more) is that not only is the announcer terrible, but there isn't enough variety in what he says during the spins. It gets REALLY old by round 2 when you have three players taking 6-10 spins (plus the 'bonus' spins) each.

I love Press Your Luck. I don't think I'll buy this game but it seems like a pretty cool game. It'd be even better to use the Buzz! controllers while playing.

I don't know... it just doesn't feel right without Peter Tomarken as the host.
Of course, he passed away a few years ago, so it'd be kind of hard to have him.

It seems that PSN is now becoming the home to Wii game ports. Is Wipeout on PSN yet or are they going to wait for Move support for throwing balls at the avatars?

I've always been a sucker for game shows, but at the same time, I've always disliked the ones that were entirely luck-based like Press Your Luck. The idea of "winning," even though you did nothing better than any of your competitors always repelled me. The modern day equivalent is the dreadful Deal or No Deal, which has sadly amassed a sizable fan base, probably for the very reason that it requires absolutely no skill or knowledge, simply blind, dumb luck.

Wow, ridiculous that they're still charging $35 for the same game on Wii.

I grew up watching the show it's still on GSN i think I like too see " Match Game " done up but it may be a little hard to do. too bad it couldn't be done by Eyetoys where people could hold up written answers too see if the contestant got it matched.

I wonder if this will run on 5 patterns like the actual show. And one day someone will win $100,000 on it and then get $50,000 of that in 1-dollar-bills, and eventually have those 50,000 1-dollar bills stolen from him.

I miss the days when game-show games had digitized contestants (like Twisted and Zhadnost on the 3DO). These "Home rejects" ruin the experience.
Still, I will buy this game if Whammies are used for the trophy pictures. Because it's all about the Whammies, after all.
