Check out the super dramatic vignette below. Also, a word of advice to the poor souls therein: Flight, you guys. Seriously, skedaddle. You do not want to be on that planet during the next few weeks.
Pause to 'Remember' this Halo: Reach live-action short
72
Bungie's proclivity for advertising its seminal Halo franchise with classy, live-action advertisements was exhibited earlier today by the release of a new vignette titled "Remember," which launched alongside the official site for Halo: Reach. The trailer, posted after the jump, features footage both old and new, blended together to tell the stories of a handful of Reach inhabitants who are struggling with the decision between "fight" and "flight" in the month preceding the events of the game.
Check out the super dramatic vignette below. Also, a word of advice to the poor souls therein: Flight, you guys. Seriously, skedaddle. You do not want to be on that planet during the next few weeks.

Yeah these live action trailers for reach aren't up to snuff, but maybe that's cause the game is gonna be awesome. ODST had a crazy cool live action but the game sucked. Maybe that's how live action trailers work, they are don't in anyway represent the game they depict.

really? I thought it was the best halo since CE
If youve played all the halos youll notice that the gameplay is slowly returning to the way it was back in CE. Which, come on, was obviously the best one.

There were civilian settlements on Reach? I thought it was a military outpost used as a Spartan "Factory" of sorts.
Posted: Aug 24th 2010 4:24PM TheDarkWayne said
@PirateEmery it was the most heavily fortified world aside from Earth, so yes it was where the Spartans were trained as well as a massive military installation, but there were still cities on it. Think of how US Army forts work in the states, they're military bases but usually are near or part of a civilian community.

Either way, kinda cool.

It's 500 years into the future and cars still have wheels. It's like the inability to carry med packs in Halo 3: ODST. It's the 26th century dammit!

I hate the ads for Reach and Halo 3. They get me all excited that the games might actually be about something other than 6 hours of shooting aliens in the face. That they might actually have some emotional significance to them, that they might be something other than the standard first person shooter. It's false advertisement.

there is emotion. It's called humanity with it's back against the wall, united against a crazed heretic group of aliens.
There's a much deeper story than you think, the outer colonies start to rebel, and the people of Earth feel surrounded, and they created spartans to suppress the rebellions. Then came the covenant...boom goes Harvest, boom goes Reach. Idk i think it's a pretty cool story

What part's? I mean the narrative was good and all (at least from a shooters perspective though the books take narrative and turn it to awesome) but most of the time any scene that was dramatic just made my trigger finger a bit more itchy.

@Ryuk The Halo universe might be deep and interesting, but the games tend to be anything but. The Halo 3 ad campaign made it seem like the games were going to tell a story of hope among desperation, but come on, let's be honest with ourselves, the ad campaign had a deeper more resonating story than the games. I hope Reach will finally live up to the promise the ancillary universe products give us

I think that Halo 3: ODST did a good job of providing us with a story that was up to the quality of the books and other material. While the story was rather insignificant overall, it was a nice look into the desperation of a city and humanity when it's back is against the wall, much more so than Halo 3 which was more of a "Well master chief is boss and saves everyone."
Here's hoping that Reach captures more of that character driven story that ODST had.

Hrm, those guys marching up the stairs didn't look like UNSC troops, I wonder if Reach's plot is going to begin with putting down insurrectionists rebellions rather than the invasion

Probably militia since if they were rebels you can bet people would be freaking the hell out.
Not only that they're were more than just space marines in the Halo Universe. The only reason we didn't see them in the previous games was because A: Every Spartan was Marine, and B: By the time we got to see and fight on Earth the marines were pretty much all that remained in the area that Key's had under her control.

Rebel's didn't use a standard uniform. And since Reach was the most secure planet in UNSC control if people were running around with guns and without uniform, people would immediately freak. Especially since the populace were on hair trigger as well.

Hell, I get all giddy when Gibbs & Co. need to head into a nearby city on NCIS. One episode had them going to an address on Balls Ford Road. That's 3 streets away from me.
