While there are some that would write off Xbox Live Indie Games as just the domain of hobbyists, a handful of games have proven that the service can be lucrative for developers. Ska Studios' I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1N IT!!!1 is easily one of the most well-known examples, routinely topping the Indie Games sales list each week. Now, the company has announced that Z0MB1ES has sold in excess of 308,000 copies and is expanding into some new territory.
First, the game's incredibly super-catchy theme song is now available on Rock Band Network. And yes, it's just a dollar. Furthermore, Z0MB1ES apparel will be sold in Hot Topic stores starting next month. Presumably for more than a dollar.

The shirt is worth 15-20 copies of the game, until you wash it

So I take it this won't appear on the PS3 just like the Midnight Riders songs won't?
Harrmonixxx, just cause we have a PS3 doesn't mean we don't like those games and their songs!
We could go a week without more nameless indie metalcore bands on RBN, too! Put it together!

I'm pretty sure you can, it just has to be on the same system that you were using when you bought it online. I found that out the hard way when I bought Castle Crashers on my friends system (with my HDD in it) and when I tired to play on my system offline it was the demo. Offline on my friends system it was (and still is) the full game. It's Microsoft's DRM. Also, since you're gonna want to know, you can reset all your purchased stuff to one system using this link: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/licensemigration/default.htm , BUT you can only do it once a year, so use it wisely

Nope, that's a different issue. Indie games can't be played offline at all. Microsoft says it's for safety reasons (so they can block/pull games that have been deemed inappropriate post-launch).

@RadiantViper
Thanks, RadiantViper. I confirmed this deal breaker after reading your post. Dammit! I won't allow anyone to force this on me. So far, it's only been an issue on the PC. I bought this game already, but it will be the last XBL indie title that I buy, unless they abandon this unacceptable restriction, of course. I was about to grab Apple Jack too.
DAMMIT!

So, exactly what % of the sales does the developer get? Because good lord that's a lot of dough, considering the simplicity of the game (not that it isn't awesome).

MS takes at 35 to 70% cut of the revenue made from the game.

Arrrgh... I mean, I love ZOMBIES... but there are MUCH more deserving games on the Xbox Live Indie Games marketplace for 300,000 sales. The Arkedo Series needs some love! That is quality that rivals full-priced XBLA games! This is more on the scale of "eh, it's only a dollar and it's pretty fun to show to a friend or two," while Arkedo's games are absolutely stunning, if for presentation alone.

Don't forget The Impossible Game. I got hours of enjoyment out of it and I think it was only a buck too. I'd love to know how many copies have been bought total for that game

@StarFoxA That managed to earn so much money, it came out on the iPhone's App Store. Addictive game, nonetheless.

@MintagedVortex I think you're thinking of Pix'n Love Rush, which stars the main character from one of Arkedo's games, but is developed by Pastagames, not Arkedo. None of the three Arkedo Series games have been released on anything other than Xbox Live Indie Games.
