That's so great to hear! DEFCON was such an awesome, unique experience. A company with such a cool vision like that deserves to stay afloat.

Its just too bad they had to ditch so many employees. Kinda bittersweet. :[

That sucks.. glad to hear they restored capital though. Subversion looks interesting so hopefully all will be good and they may be able to re-employ some of their old staff again.

Glad they were able to stay alive thanks to steam, but then again they should have went to valve first and not ms.

@The angry pro consumer gaming ga

Just to clarify, their games were on Steam before Darwinia+ launched on XBLA on 2/10/10. I just checked my account and I got Darwinia as part of an indie bundle on 8/9/09 and picked up Multiwinia 1/1/10. They must have just had too much riding on the port combining the 2 games into 1 on XBLA.

I'd still love to see the (teased?) MMO based on their superb Uplink game, one can dream!

This is a great article to link to for anyone trying to justify piracy. While it's not necessarily about piracy, it definitely shows how poor sales affects the actual people behind the game.

What are you on? You admit the article has nothing to do with piracy but still advocate it's use because people lost their jobs and "piracy makes people lose their jobs".

If anything this shows how piracy is largely BS in regards to a game's success or failure. In this case the PC (*gasp* most pirated platform eva!) gamers not only made Introversion successful once but also a second time, while the largely unpirateable console platform (where all the moneys at) pretty much ruined them.

This is great, I've loved Introversion since I got the original Darwinia in.... 2005!

This is exactly why you don't want to ignore PC gamers. There's a large portion of them who are in control of their credit cards after all.

It's kind of sad that no one is coming out and investing in them. Not buying them or anything, just giving them some money to make some more awesome games.

If Introversion ever closes, I'll probably be done with gaming for good. No way could I ever support an industry that would sit back and watch the most talented, fully independent studio, close its doors over lack of funding.

Here's hoping for huge success with Subversion.

I wouldn't be suprised if Valve did give them some money after this.

Because they are that awesome.

I actually did buy into that deal Steam had (which, I believe, was $5 for all 4 of their games). Got it cause I remembered hearing some good things about Darwina and $5 was too good to pass up. I feel kinda bad when I read this though, for spending $5 on $40 worth of games, yet also feeling kinda good for helping them get back on their feet.

Their games are really fun, even if they feel a bit complicated.

Mark Morris is awesome! He did an interview for my show. Really down to earth guy and I'm glad that the company is still around. Great games... check out the interview here... http://www.thegamershow.com/episodes/episode06/index.php

Back to a bedroom company again :(. I hope they can make some cash throughout the next months and re-employ some guys.

But I have high hopes for Subversion!
Uplink is my favourite game from Introversion - I still play it today from time to time. The "successor" is definitly one of my most anticipated games 2011!

I can't imagine how down-heartening it must have been to spend a few years making a game and putting all your time into it; no doubt spending a load of overtime as well during the final few weeks, and then for it to all end up knowing your game wasn't going to be received well enough to make profit.

Great news that these guys can manage to get their games selling enough to make profit.

After reading these reports about Defcon achievements and Steam sale saving the company I felt motivated to fire the game up and look for a match.

Didn't manage to find a populated server though :(

I bought both Darwinia and Defcon at retail and then again when the Steam bundle was out. Just fantastically original games.

It would be a sad day indeed if this team had to close shop.

Introversion is too cool for the FPS-brainwashed masses. Period. I proudly own every Introversion game since Uplink, and Darwinia for XBLA was a Day One purchase for me. Too bad too few people realize how awesome they are :)
