Peripheral Vision is the name of our ongoing sporadic journey into the wonderful, oft-terrifying world of third-party peripherals. Today we've got two new, surprisingly great controllers from Power A, the Pro Elite Wireless for PS3 and the Pro Pack Mini for Wii. Enjoy.

The one problem I have with PS3 controllers that are shaped like 360 controllers is that most PS devs map "shoot" to R1 and rarely give an option to change it to R2. R1 is probably the most awkward button to press on 360 shaped controllers and it really doesn't work as your main button, for which R2 is the best on the 360 shaped controllers.
Shame, because I hugely prefer the better analog placement and concave analog sticks.
Although this post brings me to my next point. Why the hell are console game devs still unwilling to let us map our own damn control schemes?

I hate L2 and R2 on the Dualshock. Worst button placement ever.

one comment and two questions...
1) I just wish that the wii controller didnt make the +/- buttons further away. For FPS games like the Conduit it would be nicer to have them even closer not further away.
2) Does the PS3 controller support tilt/motion controls? Some games require that. If so, it might be worth looking into.
3) Also, the PS3 controller work on a PC as well (since it has a USB dongle)?

the black wiimote is too small, especially if you use the wiimote on it's side, i find that the official nintendo wiimote is too small, god knows what the black wiimote will be like, and the power A ps3 controller is complete fail, i don't want a xbox 360 layout, i want the original ps3 layout, there is a good reason why the playstation controller is top notch design, changing it won't help your sales, nor will that horrible d pad either!
