The fence needed to be replaced anyway. It was old and warn out from so many people sitting on it all the time.

Why's everyone down voting an honest comment? He's not trolling, not name calling. Seriously guys. I think A LOT of people are on the fence w/ this. Team Ninja's not exactly known for metroidvania style games. Still, I'm definitely looking forward to this, but will be PISSED if I see bouncing jubblies in my Metroid game! Hahaha

This review afforded me the grapple beam which I used to vault over the fence. I'm now genuinely stoked for Other M.

Sounds good, but article made me mad about Metroid Prime.

I go out and buy MP3, few weeks later the trilogy releases. By the time I can afford it, its not available...

It's not necessarily wrong, just redundant. $25 is already raed as "25 dollars". So $25 dlls would be "25 dollars dollars".

Scanning...why is that always a bitch to pull off?

It's been the bane of Metroid since Prime.

But....fantastic news nonetheless. Another stellar game in the franchise.

@CaptainProtonX actually, it was one of my favorite inventions. I loved being able to scan around the world I was given and basically piece together a story based on the snippets of text, and learn more about the world I was in. It made the whole experience a little deeper.

I know a great cure of achievement whoreness. Get Modio and LeFluffe for your computer. Give yourself achievements for whatever games you want. After you give yourself about 20 or 30,000, you'll cease to care about achievements anymore. In fact, you'll laugh at yourself for all the time you wasted getting them in the first place.

Those things do mean a lot to me... I have all stars in Mario Galaxy 2, played the shit out of Mad World, Dead Space Extraction, and even finished Boy and his Blob. However, as a former fat-kid I prefer to take the sundae approach to this. All the chocolate, sweet ice cream, and sprinkles won't make up for the fact there is no cherry on top.

Those points don't do anything you realize?

It's a sad day when people actually prefer a game because if you do something in them it'll say "+10" or "Silver Trophy." How does that change the game at all? I mean really this mindset makes no sense to me at all. I grew up on the atari and NES where the achievement was beating the game.

I'd wager beating any number of some of those impossible NES games is far more of an achievement than anything you've done in gaming and I don't need points or trophies as proof. What a load of crap this generation of gamers has become.

Using achievements as a status symbol or bragging rights is bad and pointless.

Using achievements to prolong the life of a game and go back to fully explore an area or accomplish a side mission or do a portion of a game quicker or more efficient is good.

The point is achievements can be good or bad; useful or useless. Depends on how you view and use them.

if they were "meaningless" then developers wouldnt bother putting in games would they? to each their own. Personally, id play my Wii more if it had achievements/trophies. its like having a score within a game... you remember those right? old classic nintendo games keeping scores... and you try to beat that score everytime you play.

Achievements and trophies are the SAME thing. nothing has changed.

I agree with you, but at the same time i am a Trophy Collector and i do it for bragging rights sometimes BUT i mainly go for trophies so i can get extra usage out of a game ( besides the point of starting over again ) it's like giving me a challenge list ( sorta like a check list )

have you gotten GTA IV's

Wanted - earn $5 Million online ? No ( uncheck )

Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic - win all variations of multiplayer games ? Yes ( check )

but if their's some i feel like not doing i'l go to the next trophy on the list or the next game. I think it's fun to go for trophies

@KiraXD If i recall correctly Microsoft forces game developers to have achievements in any game released on the 360 or XboxLive. So yeah they are a Microsoft Standard not a Development Standard.

You want to get extra time out of a game you don't NEED trophies or achievements. Back in the day if I wanted to do a Metroid speed run I'd just DO it. No one had to TELL me to do it and if I do I'll get a Gold Trophy. No one had to tell me to beat Devil May Cry on Dante Must Die mode, I just wanted to do it. There's plenty of ways to play your games differently and do insane things like beat FF7 with only Cloud, no Materia and whatever other restrictions you can think of.

Game on bro!

Well said, kids these days don't have the thrill of making their OWN achievements. I remember when I did things in games because I personally wanted to see if I could, like beating Gunstar Heroes on Expert (still can't), not because I'd be getting some arbitrary points that unfortunately don't do anything. Plus, this is a Metroid game, completing the game 100% should be a good enough achievement for anyone.

@KiraXD Achievements/Trophies are put in because it gets people playing the game longer with minimal effort, and thus the game gets more word of mouth coverage.

If you enjoy hunting for trophies, good for you, but people like me would rather the time was spent tightening up the graphics on level 5.

well i too did grew up in the 80's and played the NES but times change things get added too gaming all the time 2D to 3D to 3D with glasses too no trophies or achievements too having Trophies and Achievements no online gaming to online gaming.

I don't really need Trophies but if it wern't for trophies i would wait months or a year later to stick a game in too play over again, but with trophies as i said i do them too see if i can do them and it makes me play a game alittle longer after completing the game and not just moving on too the next game.

I also agree with you said i said. Those who only play games with trophies are missing out on great gaming ( Metroid, Zelda ETC just like on the NES and SNES days of Gaming ! ) * as a matter of fact i pick up NES Zelda to play and complete once a year cause it's a classic *

Game On As Well : )
