Cue the country hatred, but let's face it: If this genre of music wasn't being downloaded, we wouldn't be getting the 4th pack at this poing.

I don't know all those songs, but some of those artists (Johnson, Church & Lady A) could be fun to play.

You really have to grow up listen to it or enjoy the culture surrounding the music. While country music is almost exclusive to the USA something like Metal is a music genre that is heavly embrassed by people worldwide and by different cultures.

Country music is really like any other popular genre found worldwide. There's plenty of crap to sift through (that many times seems to be the most popular), but maturity is rewarded with some real quality songwriting.

I'd make the argument that country has produced more such artists than metal, but honestly I don't know enough metal past the most popular ones.

All that being said, I want a track pack from the Highwaymen (Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings & Kris Kristofferson)

I would seriously consider cutting off a piece of my body (waist, up, mind you) for Highwaymen tracks; you get that many talented people in one room (I don't care what type of music you "normally like"), and it makes for good music.

...and this is coming from a guy that's ANXIOUSLY awaiting the day I can play good metal for my niece--once her mom approves *sigh*.

When you think about it country is just pop for rednecks, same level of creativity in the lyrics with 2 main themes (pop = sex/love, country = heartbreak/america), one main singer in a band of rotating faceless musicians, and an over produced sound so everything ends up the same.

@bgardner Really, people don't hate country, they hate the slick country-pop. Most people I know love at least Johnny Cash, and stuff lie the O Brother soundtrack. The thing is that doesn't sell well and the authentic stuff these days is hard to find (at least for a rock guy like myself.)

Yeah I agree. Its a passive-aggressive way to hate a group of people. ie "I hate rap" (translation - I really don't like Black people). In this case I just hate the music. I do like Cash or Hank Williams, but only sorta.

COL. Hans Landa: Consider for a moment the world a rat lives in. lt’s a hostile world, indeed. lf a rat were to scamper through your front door, right now, would you greet it with hostility?

Perrier LaPadite: l suppose l would.

COL. Hans Landa: Has a rat ever done anything to you to create this animosity you feel toward them?

Perrier LaPadite: Rats spread disease. They bite people.

COL. Hans Landa: Rats were the cause of the bubonic plague, but that’s some time ago. l propose to you any disease a rat could spread, a squirrel could equally carry. Would you agree?

Perrier LaPadite: Oui (Agrees in French)

COL. Hans Landa: Yet, l assume you don’t share the same animosity with squirrels that you do with rats, do you?

Perrier LaPadite: No.

COL. Hans Landa: Yet, they’re both rodents, are they not? And except for the tail, they even rather look alike, don’t they?

Perrier LaPadite: It’s an interesting thought, Herr Colonel.

COL. Hans Landa: However interesting as the thought may be, it makes not one bit of difference to how you feel. If a rat were to walk in here, right now, as l’m talking would you greet it with a saucer of your delicious milk?

Perrier LaPadite: Probably not.

COL. Hans Landa: l didn’t think so. You don’t like them. You don’t really know why you don’t like them. All you know is you find them repulsive.

Haha I love how Nintendo and Microsoft have created their own arbitrary "points" system while so Sony said "Seriously? F**k it, it's 1.99".

yeah but you still have to add points to sony, you can't buy it with real money, so even though they're using real figures, it's still monopoly money.

I guess my point is that Sony is using direct measure of US currency. If you want to get technical about it; paper money is just "monopoly money" without any REAL value (like let's say gold/silver). Which is really in of itself a superficial arbitrary measure of value. . . . . aaaaanyway, Buying points is like wanting to buy a hamburger but instead of handing them US dollars, you go to the bank and exchange you US dollars for pesos. It's an unnecessary process is what I'm saying.

That's not actually true.
If you have your credit card info in your PSN account but don't have enough funds in your wallet and you attempt to purchase something, Sony will take the exact amount needed from your credit card to complete the purchase. This way you will never end up with extra dollars that you cannot use. Effectively this is real money, not a "Sony points" system which is what you were implying.

Seems to me like a lot of "classic" stuff, rock or country or otherwise, has been slow to arrive. The issue, as I understand it, is how easy it is to use the master recordings. So even classic country is going to suffer the same problems as classic rock: the older technology is just more difficult to translate into something usable for RB purposes...

I'm kind of relieved that I won't be spending any more money on RB DLC next week.

I'm not a fan of country to begin with anyways but if there's any songs that friends like and/or willing to play then I'll drop necessary money to get it for them to play.

Same. I do it for the friends. A bigger, more diverse track list is much better for a party and will get more people into it then if I only had metal songs or something. That's the reason I have Lady Gaga and Shania Twain downloaded. Or, at least that's what I tell myself...

We had a bunch of neighbors over for a barbecue and RB party last week and they selected more country than anything else... I had never really played some of them, and had downloaded the songs just for the selection variety. Glad I did, it were fun.

I'm all for diversity in Rock Band, but they should make these tracks a little more recognizable to entice those that would normally have no interest.

And where the hell is Garth Brooks?!

i like to listen too a bit of everything. i know Three songs from this list. and i personally think their good and they are.

"What Was I Thinkin'" -- Dierks Bentley < My Favorite of the Three

"Would You Go With Me" -- Josh Turner < 2nd Favorite

"Days Go By" -- Keith Urban < it's ok not bad but i heard better.

i like the up beat country songs too be honest maybe their a bit pop country but it's just who i am.

now only if a Game came out with Digable Planets Songs i would buy the game instantly as i love their songs and type of music. tho sadly i think Singstar would most likely be good for Digable Planets ( Digable planets = not country )
