Blizzard holding off on StarCraft TV or film project, unless James Cameron is interested
40
You may think that reading your StarCraft 2 fanfic on YouTube is the only conceivable way Blizzard's RTS could transcend the realm of video games into TV or film entertainment -- but it's actually something Blizzard has considered for a while. The possibility is predicated upon finding the right person for the job.
"We've always had an interest in seeing our stuff on film or TV. It's just tricky to find the right partners," Blizzard's Rob Pardo told MTV Multiplayer. "We probably could have made a [StarCraft] movie or something on TV years and years ago, but it's really important to us that we find creative people that are really talented but also really excited about our properties. That's always been the challenge for us. I think if Jim Cameron came to us tomorrow and said, 'You want to make a StarCraft movie?' we'd probably sign that."
But we wouldn't suggest getting your hopes up: the World of Warcraft movie has been in limbo for a while now, so we wouldn't expect to see a StarCraft flick anytime soon. We will concede, though, that writing a StarCraft movie has got to be easier than writing a film about millions of dudes pretending to be chicks while cybersexing at the Inn. There's just no character progression there.

I doubt James Cameron would do a StarCraft movie (unless he is a huge closet fan), I only say this cause he perfers doing original stuff and from what I hear he has to have full creative control now so there will be plenty of butting heads with Blizzard over story and cinematography.

Taking a property like StarCraft would require someone who can create and actual STORY to drive it... ergo, NOT Cameron.

Once they're finished with the trilogy of Starcraft 2 games, they'll have enough money to buy James Cameron and a gold-plated wood chipper to stuff him in, before constructing a Starcraft movie set out of stacks of $100 bills and funding creation of a magical robot leprechaun to direct it.

It's a "Warcraft" movie, not "World of Warcraft" movie.
The Warcraft universe includes more than just WoW (3 more games, many books, comics, ...).
It doesn't even have to be set in the same time as WoW and it doesn't have to include any storyline from WoW or any important WoW character.

StarCraft is actually one of the few games that I would like to see a movie based on. But absolutely not by James Cameron.

Blizzard saying they want James Cameron is basically like saying they want Orson Wells to come back from the dead to direct it. But are equally likely. While Jame Cameron makes a lot of money when he put out a movie they have tended to be things he very personally interested in. That has lead to him making 2, count them 2 movies in the last 15 years. Some how I don't think he cares all that much about making a movie based on RTS game. And even if he was it seem very unlikely to get into his que this decade. We are likely to Starcraft 3 before Cameron puts out another movie. To say nothing of a Starcraft movie by James Cameron.
My honestly view of this is Blizzard while kinda interested doesn't want to have a repeat of the failure their Warcraft movie is turning out to be and thus is setting the bar for there Starcraft Movie so high as to never happen.

James Cameron came from the industry.
Uwe Boll came from the industry.
Remember: Claimed expertise does not make your opinion any better than another, only more informed. Avatar can have all the cinematic trappings and camera work that can convey meaning or heighten emotion, but if it elicits no emotion then the work as art has failed.
TL:DR Some people don't like Avatar. Your argument is invalid.
