Borderlands Game of the Year Edition announced, all four DLC packs included

Gearbox Software has just revealed the "Game of the Year Edition" of Borderlands via Twitter, announcing the re-release for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on October 12. The package will include all four DLC add-ons, plus a foldout map of the game's territories. The GOTY Edition will be priced at $60 for Xbox 360 and PS3, and $50 for PC.
Today's announcement also seems to confirm that the "Borderlands GOTY Official Strategy Guide" is real. The guide popped up last month in a GameStop listing (but has since been removed from the retailer's site).

Definitely worth a purchase, if you have friends who have it, even better.

I think so. I don't have any of the DLC so I might trade in my normal version for the GOTY version as that was a cheaper way of getting the Fallout 3 DLC, so hopefully the same applies here.

@thisredengine Definitely, I play Borderlands similar to Diablo 2. You can pick it up whenever, burn through a good portion of the game on a lazy day.

I think I should get around to finishing this game. It's boring when there is no one online on the PS3 who is playing it. And I'm certainly not using screen real estate to do splitscreen.

He just said not many of his friends play it online and that he doesn't want to do local co-op. Your reading comprehension is suffering a severe mental illness.

I want to play with people. That's about the only way to play this game without blowing your brains out due to monotony. Clearly it is my fault that when I sign on to Borderlands and search for any game session, it tells me no games match the search criteria.
Not to mention how few of my real life friends actually have any interest in playing the game in the first place. Especially when I have better games to play in splitscreen multiplayer (Rock Band, anyone?).

I'm pretty sure that by "bonus map" they don't mean a new area. I think they mean it's a physical map that comes with the game so you can refer to it without having to bring up the map screen in game.

Honestly, I prefer reading books than a computer screen. It really is less fatiguing.

Y'know ... did Borderlands actually win any Game of the Year awards? Because... to release a GoTY edition ... they .. probably should have.
Decent game no doubt, but .. GoTY?

Thats a good question. Wikipedia says that RPGland gave it their Xbox GOTY award but not their overall GOTY.

@The Albatross Now days, GOTY doesn't necessarily mean it's GOTY, it's more an excuse to re-release the game with the content that they sold throughout the year

I, RadiantViper, hereby give Borderlands my Game of the Year Award for 2009.
There, it won GOTY.

"The price of the forthcoming GOTY version wasn't confirmed."
Goes to show you should like them on Facebook rather than follow them on twitter. Borderlands fan page posted the same announcement with a $59.99 price tag.

Game: $20
DLC: $5 each $15 total
New DLC: $15
$50 total for PC.
It's about right.

I've been waiting for the GOTY, simply because I didn't want to buy the game and then spend $40 later on down the road on DLC. This is going to be a sweet pick up for sure!
