So what do people think about visual novels, in general? I have a feeling this won't sell well.

@thisredengine I'm guessing it'll be a niche hit. Kinda like the Ace Attorney series.

@thisredengine I love Ace Attorney, Hotel Dusk and games like those. I also feel like Aksys's localization of Mimana Iyar was the only good thing about that crappy game. So Aksys localization + visual novel means this is an easy decision for me.

I'd have to agree with aririn though, it's probably going to be a niche hit at best.

@aririn
The Ace Attorney games aren't a niche. They're an actual game. This 999 is a graphical text adventure.

@thisredengine

Long as they didn't spend much on localization or marketing (I'm going to guess, their answer would be "no") it probably doesn't need to move many units to "sell well".

Professor Layton cant be called for help....because he put them in there in the first place...to select his new apprentice...

that would be cool if that were true

@Hitman190

Man, can you imagine the Saw movies with Professor Layton as Jigsaw?

@Hitman190

Better yet, the puppet would have a monocle and top hat, plus the tricycle would have an unnaturally large front wheel, and absurdly small back wheels.

Damn for a second I thought this was Galaxy Express 999

Either way this still sounds pretty neat.

Oh hey, these are the same guys who made that Theresia: Dear Emile game, aren't they? I've been reading through an LP of that, and although it's a really asshole-ish and ridiculous game sometimes, it's still one of the most surprisingly-grim titles on the DS, so hopefully this one will follow suit.

[You open the box of the game, and try to take out the game, but you cut your hand on the razor-sharp edges!]
