We'll be honest, we somehow let the Kinect title Adrenalin Misfits -- known as Crossboard7 outside of North America -- slip by during both E3 and Gamescom. We're not sure how it happened, because the trailers are priceless. They instantly evoke the memories of Wii launch titles, starring incredibly enthusiastic children and families just having a grand old time.
The "crossboarding" game offers several modes of play, including both single-player and multiplayer races and minigames. It also features unlockable boards and the ability to play as either an in-game character or your Xbox 360 Avatar. Also, if you can believe it, YOU are the controller.
@Starcade On a normal controller I probably would not even want to try out a game like this. With Kinect I want to try out games like this just to see how it works or if the designers had any interesting ideas that might be used in future Kinect games. Everything with Kinect is so new and unexplored it's like gaming on the Atari 2600 or NES. Very exciting.
@cool8man I have to agree with you on that one-- if this were just a game without Kinnect control, I never would have considered playing. Seems like a game we've all seen and played before. But oddly, because of the new control scheme, I am interested in trying the game.
Stop. You actually want to tilt your head backwards to make a flip?(00:39). That's a lot of ridiculous movement to pull moves. This no different than moving your arm wildly on wii boxing. How is this fun at all?
@monkey with glasses I think Kinnect is going to open up new possibilities. Sure not every game is going to be great, and not every action or gesture is going to work, but I think there are games where it probably will work, and it's going to be new interaction not possible before. I had to admit, I was a doubter when the Wii was announced, but I'm now open to new possibilties. I think this is just the beginning, and it could be the beginning of something great.
In the end, I'm curious to try these games before making any final judgements.
@MrGreen I hate to be mean, but seriously, that kid looks like he hadn't slept in a week (or he's on drugs). And which genius thought it'd be a good idea to use a fluorescent orange hoodie in an ad. I'm no filmmaker and even I know those colors bleed horribly on screen.
I'm loving these ads cuz they convince me more and more that I am making the right decision in not having any interest in Kinect.
My family will be cheering me on for sure! I will race to the finish line and get 1st place, and rejoicing will begin as we all do our finishing moves!
I'm jealous of that kid though, I wish Balki Bartokomous was my dad :(
And I wish each article of clothing I had was 1 color and different from all the other colors I'm wearing.
So this is what a bad NES game and a 1980's family ad looks like in HD. They even gave everyone the glam pink lipstick. Amazing work Brilliant Videos. Now where is the real games?
As much as I want Kinect to be awesome, and I spend way more time on my 360, I have to agree with you. If I'm experimenting this holiday my money is going to the Move.
This game looks identical to that old PS2 game 'Eyetoy Antigrav'. But well done Microsoft, you've convinced me to never buy kinect... looks like i'll be playing Move this year. Even though it's not original in the slightest, i think Move might actually has some decent games rather than more Wii style kiddies games...
Exactly. How can you really hate on Nintendo? They're Nintendo for God's sake. At least they came back with a vengeance after having endured the disaster that was the Cube of Game, or something like that.
In Adrenalin Misfits, gamers become crossboard-riding monsters that compete with enemy monsters in seven different lands from all around the world including snowy mountains, triple cascades, stormy deserts, limestone caves, glacier lands, hollow caves and volcanoes. With the motion capture technology of Kinect for Xbox 360, players will feel like they are actually riding a crossboard. Players will perfect their own unique boarding technique as they use only their body to produce real tricks, sliding and gliding in the air and on land just like the pros. With no controllers required, crossboarders can play as in-game monsters, original Avatars or their favorite Xbox 360 Avatar.
