Latest Goldeneye 007 trailer reimagines Bond
56
The new Goldeneye 007 doesn't have Pierce Brosnan and isn't a remake of the classic N64 title. This latest trailer looks at how Eurocom is reimagining the story of the film -- with Daniel Craig's Bond -- for today's audience. One thing you can't update: Joe Don Baker. Dude can't be reimagined.

I wouldn't feel too disappointed if I was you. Remember the last time they made a Goldeneye game that wasn't a remake of the N64 original?
Because if you don't, you're a much luckier guy than me: http://www.spassersalg.dk/userfiles/image/rogue%20agent.jpg

Wow the facial animation is really good for a (I feel dumb for saying this) a Wii game....

@piez Who else thought Ian from National Treasure was the inspiration for Flynn in Uncharted? Sean Bean played Ian, that's how it's relevant.

@Hank Hill You think they were gonna stick only with Wii's online play? Splitscreen is a given.

@Prboi Probably because of first-party.
Speaking of Wii's graphical power, who else thinks Nintendo will be the first to bring a console to the marjet next gen. The hardware is so, so very outdated. It's not gonna last 3 more years. It can't.

LOL @ 0:45 in; the guy taking cover behind what looks like a thin advertising screen.
I'm sure that will stop bullets!

Is it weird that the security guard who scans Bond looks and seems more lifelike than most 360 and ps3 characters I've seen?

@emperorzeroxx I'd have to agree with him. I mean the model isn't as life like as some, but the facial animation and general expression are a lot better than, oh, say, MW2.

If only it were on the 360 or PS3. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm sure the game will be good, and I'll be able to enjoy it, but I can't shake the feeling that it could be so much more if it were on a console that had a standard controller. Anybody else getting that feeling?

@JohnnyBlair You realize you can use the classic controller as well as the wiimote, right?

You can use the classic controller to play the game; it was previewed at E3 this year with the classic controller pro. It controls well, and for those who enjoy the Wii Remote and Nunchuck controls (like me), that will of course be an option as well.

"I think it will blow away anything you've ever seen first person shooter wise" - I don't think so Tim. I mean really, even if they released this on PC it still wouldn't stand up to games like Crysis, UT3, HL2 and countless others.

The existence of this game just doesn't feel right. To me, it seems to give the impression that:
- Daniel Craig doesn't have enough drawing power to sell a game starring his version of Bond, and so MGM ot of lack of confidence in him has to ride on one of his predecessor's past success.
- Activision caught wind of the demand of a VC GoldenEye, and even though it was impossible to bring the original to its fans, the temptation to make money off the name recognition was too great for them to not do something. ANYTHING.
- It's a total unethical slap in the face to the hard work that both Rareware and Pierce Brosnan put into both the game and Bond movie franchise.
But perhaps it may be just me being an idealistic gamer and Bond fan.
That is all. Dismissed.

Counterpoint:
I absolutely loved the original Goldeneye has me excited for the reconstructed stages and playthrough of said stages.
They took into consideration the people's love for the original has me excited for the multiplayer to see just what kind of enhancements they could possibly bring - especially considering the Wii controls.
Rareware didn't have anything to do with the movie. And I'm not so sure Pierce Brosnan had anything to do with the N64 game. Also, with the latest reimaginings of the Bond series, I'm sure they wanted to keep the experience a bit fresher. Especially in the minds of the new generations.

Indeed. We gotta remember that developers develop games not only for longtime fans, but for the newer generation of gamers too. It's all about business in that sense because they are looking to expand the market of a franchise, but they also want to test the waters and give us a new experience of a timeless classic.

The original N64 Goldeneye came out at a time when FPS's were relatively new to consoles, so had a massive impact. If your a fan of this genre you probably already have 360/PS3 . Can't see all the "Wii Moms" rushing out to buy this one. Leave nostalgia were it belongs!
