@CubsFan2491 I don't see why.

It has nothing to do with the main story.

You bought a complete game. This is extra content to add on to that if you want more.

@Fminus Negativity To The Rescue

I don't feel obligated at all. in fact, i'm NOT going to buy this DLC since i feel it should have been part of the game. this game turned out to be all driving around from one mission to another. it wasn't open world at all. it's now clear that's because they saved all the side missions for DLC to get another $20-30 out of you!

Granted, it's a "full game" that doesn't quite live up to the potential of the brand. Actually, I think by releasing Mafia 2, they officially destroyed the brand. They did for me anyhow. I was very fond of the first Mafia, but Mafia 2 feels so...soulless? There's no reason for it to even exist, much like BioShock 2.

I hate this trend of milking customers within weeks of release... Could at least try to make it look like something they did after finishing the game by waiting a while, instead of making people feel like their game is incomplete at release.

I am thoroughly enjoying the main game at the moment and look forward to this DLC. I wonder how long it will last? 800 MS points is a lot, so I hope it's worth it. I sure wish we could have played the 1st Jimmy DLC on 360, though. =(

I, er, imagine.

Hah, I really enjoyed this game. But now when I look back at it, all I can see is how there is just about a third of the content that was supposed to be in the game before the lead designer and writer was ratted out by 2K so they can strip it to the torso like they did.

I understand that making DLCs from stuff that is already done is kinda trend that is about to continue. I don't like it, but at least I'll get what I want, eventually.

Problem with Mafia 2 is, that even if that removed content gets to me in form of DLCs, it wont change the main storyline of Mafia 2 back into what it was supposed to be. (Well, unless there will be some "Director's cut" edition, but I won't hold my breath for that. It would likely be in contradiction with Jimmy's DLCs anyway.) And this is where 2K screwed it all up for me. They broke the game's neck just to make some cheap buck and now Mafia fans are left with some torso of a game. Sure, it's still fun torso, but torso nevertheless.

btw, dunno if something like that is on some english pages out there, but here you go:

I'm sorry but I love this game, in what preview did the developers ever say that this was an Open World game? All I remember them saying is that they created the whole city so that it would feel like a real place where they could tell thier story. I for one don't miss collecting useless items, shooting pigeons or for that matter branching missions, all reasons I have never finished a GTA game. Mafia 2 is a solid action game that clocks in around 10 hours, like the vast majority of games. I feel like if it had some crappy multiplayer component people would be less hard on it and thats just sad. Bring on the DLC I say, at least it not $15 dollars for maps from the original Mafia.

Uh ... pigeons aren't needed to beat the game. And Mafia 2 has 159 wanted posters.
