damn. You guys are up early too... anyways, the trophies/achivments are pretty spot on with what i expected. I'm glad that there isn't one for bad/good karma like FO3 because that sh!t was straight up annoying. i also hope the energy weapon damage does not make my game save over 15mb with all the goo piles i will be collecting for a trophy

A bit of a grind for some of them, but I don't mind that much. 100 points for Hardcore is nice, definitely looking forward to that challenge.

i hate difficulty based achievements. I rather do unique things or challenging fetch quests and collections missions than "Hardcore" or "Insane" difficulties. I'm not playing these to get pissed off - and I think that achievements shouldn't be impossible and extremely tedious to get. I got 72/72 for Fallout 3 and felt it had pretty good achievement goals. I think the point of achievements should be replayability - not so much about pissing casual gamers off. I'm not a achievement whore by any means, but I like games once and a while that offer challenging, but doable 1000 points.

@Myself

Mind you, as long as "Hardcore" mode isn't cheap as hell as some games make it, I'll be fine.

I'm the opposite here, I hate collection missions, etc in comparison to difficulty ones, it's just a matter of a opinion but the reason is this.

To do difficulty based ones I usually don't have to go out of my way to do them, for example here I was going to play it on hardcore anyway after my first run.

Well, Hardcore isn't really a difficulty, it's a specific mode. You can play on the easiest difficult with Hardcore on top - it affects other things, like you have to eat/drink food and water to stay alive, ammo has weight, etc.

I like difficulty achievements more than I do "Get to this point with this percent of good/bad" achievements.

The definition of Achievement - something accomplished, esp. by superior ability, special effort, great courage, etc.; a great or heroic deed.

They are meant to be hard. If you can't get the achievement then you're not good enough; that's the point. They are meant to give you a sense of accomplishment; not just some sudo-compensation for hours of your time.

@Brando Calrissian

I'm not saying make all achievements fetch missions where you collect x amount of orbs or rubies - make them interesting.

I also enjoy achievements that make you do unique things rather than "PLAY THIS GAME ON STUPID HARD, STUPID CHEAP, INCREDIBLY NOT FUN MODE WHERE, WHEN YOU DIE, THE CHECKPOINT SYSTEM TEABAGS YOUR ENTIRE AFTERNOON OF PLAYING"

I'm just stating what I like to see in a game. Sometimes I feel difficulty based achievements are making up for games that just aren't as interesting as they should be. I hope this mode is what has been described - although the idea of eating and drinking to stay alive is incredibly tedious. Like playing racing game or GTA that forces you to go get your oil changed.

And making you essentially play through the game 3 times to get 3 sets of alignment based achievements isn't 'making up for games not being as interesting as they should be'?

@FakeJamaican Fallout 3 wasn't remotely challenging though,

I forced my self to play without VATS to make it harder

Speaking of trophies/achievements; I'm playing Killzone 2 on elite difficulty to get that trophy and I just can't get past Radec's second wave of attackers! ARGGH!

Just had to get that off my heart....

That is quite similar to what I've been doing so far. I've gotten to the when the rocket troopers arrive but I've always gotten killed by the support troopers who come running up the stairs as i try to take them out.

But thanks I will try to follow your instructions carefully.

Finally I made it! 20% skill and 80% luck. That's the toughest gold trophy I've done so far.

Thanks for the help!

@MrAlex Like story-based spoilers? I don't think so. The achievements are all "Completed [name of this quest]." not "Killed [so and so]".

I love that Hardcore one. This game is going to be awesome (hopefully!}!

Looks good to me. The whole good, neutral, evil level achievements in Fallout 3 kind of annoyed me. I'm either expected to play through the game 3 times or work some strategic save and karma binge system to get all the achievements? No thanks.

10,000 points of unarmed damage? Lame. Why punch them in the face when you can shoot it with a high-powered rifle?

@Ospov I had SO much fun playing unarmed in FO3. Straight-up punching raiders heads off in slow-mo is a GOOD TIME.

@Ospov

Well, in FO3 I did a character with max out unarmed stats and with spicked knuckles I could take out super mutants with less than 3 punches.

Also, unarmed and melee are useful at the beginning when you have less cash so that you don't have to grind for money (unless you have high luck and the fortune finder perk)

Great ... I hate games that require more than one play through to get most if not all achievements.

Looking at the list of my games ... I've only completed 2 games ... all my other games are between 400 - 800 :(

What you call tedious I call engaging. God forbid a game designer try to make a 'role playing game' a little more realistic. What you want in a game is monotony. Like I said, if you can't do the achievement, then you can't. No reason to spend an afternoon with balls in your mouth. If you're frustrated play something a little more your style. I hear Avatar: The Last Airbender is right up your alley.
