Hothead's games prevent communism, apparently
18
The latest Hothead dev diary is out and, well, it doesn't have much to do with video games, with hardly a mention of DeathSpank. Actually, it does note that Hothead's games combat communism, though it never elucidates how. It has something to do with circumcisions, we guess?

Communism isn't really all that bad. It's just had the misfortune of being the idealogy of choice for some questionable leaders in the past.
Circumcisions suck.

I agree. Wish a someone who was a good leader would create a communist nation. I'd live in it. Not the North Korean or Chinese versions. Communism in its original form rules

@Doctor Who
The problem with Communism isn't the leaders, it's human nature in general. Sure they were selfish pricks who wanted power and prestige at the expense of those below them - but doesn't that remind you of anyone? Like everyone in the history of mankind?
I've always said that a country ruled completely by a compassionate, intelligent, pragmatic dictator would be the best form of government. However, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Communism is just particularly susceptible to this truth.

@Michelobius If communism won't work because of human nature, what the eff makes you think Capitalism, in all its every-man-for-himself glory, works for anyone other than those who already have nice cushy lives. The same human nature which bars communism from working in any context, is the reason why human nature has led to the recent crash of markets here.
If communism can never work because of human nature, then society will never work because of human nature: a human nature which dictates that we should not try to be better than we are or do better than we have done before because we can always blame our failures not on effort or responsibility to ourselves and each other, but to this flawed human nature. Isn't it "human" to try to be more than the meat machine we've been designed to be?

@Esposch You only assume it is more flawed because it has been so in practice, and America is currently on top of the world. Wealth is not everything to everyone, however. if you can admit that Capitalism can not succeed without being kept in check by communist and socialist ideas such as labor laws, social security, and minimum wage to name a few; you must admit that the capitalist market would NEVER had dictated that those protections were necessary.

Surprisingly mature discussion about a subject people are too quick to start screaming about. Bravo, comments section.
Communism reminds me of Libertarianism. Schools of governance that would work perfectly, if only humans didn't act human, ever make mistakes, or want anything beyond basic sustenance.

@(Unverified) Exactly. Communism, Anarchism and Libertarianism are all nice ideas that fail to take into account fundamental aspects human nature.
