Typical of Microsoft, the same price or more as in the US with half of the features.

I am 100% positive this means that this thing is region coded as well which goes right 'effing back to one thing.

Money.

" (Region Coding) Allows price discrimination between markets, thus increasing the potential revenue from worldwide sales and/or making products affordable in markets not tolerating the prices of other regions. "

I just cancelled my pre-order. $150 to start was pushing it. Now with limited functionality? I'll wait until next year after the price drop and when it's actually feature complete.

lol. The Kinect, thanks to Microsoft's unwillingness to currency convert and would much rather make Europe and other non US regions bend over, in the regions affected most will be €150. That's roughly $190 USD.

So in the end, more expensive for less features. That's essentially the story of the Xbox 360. Non-US marketplaces are inferior yet even with the recently announced US price hike for Xbox Live subscription, Europe pays more for XBL and gets significantly less for that money. It's a joke. Only redeeming factor about non-US Xbox Live? No or very, very infrequent advertisements on the dashboard. But it's like putting a billboard in the middle of the desert.

I think I am having prophetic dreams because I remember reading this somewhere earlier today and yet kotaku n joystiq are only reporting it now. Any how as I said on kotaku.

Kinect is seeming to be more like a premature ejaculation could have been a great product but came to early

I'm from Portugal and I made my pre-order last month. I'm really sad that Microsoft still doesn't localize content, like Sony does. We have games with no subtitles. Kinect with no language suport at launch. LIVE Portugal with no Indy games and no inside Xbox... And the thing that scares me the most is that my countrie has only 9000 Gamertags on LIVE. So, if MS is localizing the language support, as it goes and in terms of local sales... ohhhhh well...I have to wait for the brazilian market to buy this camera and hope for the best.
A real shame, MS.... A real shame in did.
Another point for Sony... sadly :( Since I can't afford bouth machines.

Sorry for any typping errors. My Portuguese it's better ;-)
Take care

Get Firefox and then get a spelling check plug-in to help you correct your mistakes. If you're not proficient enough in English, this won't help your grammar but at least you'll type everything correctly.

Also... I'm Portuguese so... who the hell buys an Xbox here? Why would anyone want to do that here? xD

I'm also Portuguese and, unlike Ashitaka there, I get why people would buy and xbox here (it's as easy to get games for it as it is for other consoles: order from the UK) but really, Microsoft just keeps giving us the shaft. First the whole disabled UK accounts thing, then the delayed or non-existent DLC in the XBLM and now this? Disabling features just because they feel like?

Really, I don't need subtitles nor localizations and I still dread the day someone decides to publish a game here without the option to get anything than the crappy Portuguese (mostly Brazilian) localization.

What's funny is that the Kinect beta program works fine with voice control here in Canada. It would be really stupid of them if they were to disable it via an update.

Canada is the 3rd of 4th biggest market for the xbox, behind the U.S.A, U.K., and possibly France. And our English is closest to that of the U.S. I don't see why they need to delay the launch of voice control just so that they can give us the same exact thing the Americans have at a later date.

Ah haha. Word of advice to MS. Open mouth, insert foot then spread cheeks and insert head into ass. No one is going to want to see MS talk about anything for a few months. I might have considered Kinect before this, but with them nixing more and more features as we approach launch, and the overwhelmingly positive review Joystiq just gave the Move, I'd say this is out of the question now. I've dropped this thing all the way off even my "I'm mildly intersted in that" list.

Honestly Who Cares about the French, The English Speaking/Bi-Lingual Population BLOWS their French-Only population out of the water.

Just Update in French, Give us Voice Control, then throw in an Update/Download that adds french

Well they have three options.....

Hold off the release in countries that it won't be supporting voice recognition, people will bitch endlessly.

Disable it and tweak it out but shoot for a fairly global release date, with the intent to patch it in when its working at a later date .... people will bitch endlessly.

Their third option is just to leave the voice recognition enabled with the option to disable it via whatever configuration console the Xbox has while they work on support for other languages. Which is probably the best option..... you would still have some complaints but probably not to the same degree.

ZOMG OF COURSE IT WON'T UNDERSTAND US.

Its because we say ABOOT instead of ABOUT, and when we turn on the Kinect we just have to share a keg of molson with it and we will randomly start fights and talk about hockey because we are canadian blahblahblahblahblah.

F*CK YOU MICROSOFT ... you just lost a first day sale, im waiting until this b*tch drops to $49.99 at some random futureshop sale you pricks.

being canadian, i think that most of canada speaks the english language as pure as it can be spoken, without the slang, accents, and the such. i understand canadians have an accent as well compared to other people, but i find it hard to belive that we couldnt be understood less than someone from the deep south in the USA, NY, manchester or where ever. once again microsoft screws the canadians....remember the zune?
