@Meghterb1985 not for those that play this LOYALLY....I mean mag is DAMN near an MMO...can you blame them for this?? Micro-transactions will help games like this out....and if Starhawk ever sees the light of day, I have the feeling it will too

Just do what my friend does. He has 3 PSN accounts. One's his main. One for Valor, and one for the other section.

No kidding. They've effectively found a way to do an MMO-type subsription for a FPS. smh.

I'd like the option to play music during any game, like on 360. This is the main flaw of the P3 i think.

i bought this game way back when it came out, and I really couldn't get into it cause I don't have any friends with a PS3. I really wanna play it, so if anyone wants, add me (As cold as icee) and message me if you wanna play, cause it's honestly a good game, only if teamworks involved though

I didn't have any friends that were playing MAG when I started either, but I researched some clans and found a nice clan full of social and competent players.

After all, the friends list on your PS3 isn't just for your IRL friends :)

"We know we certainly won't, because we wouldn't dare gird our loins with the colors of Raven and Valor, because that would be shameful."
Come over to Raven and we'll show you how to really play the game ;)

I think 1€ a month for an extra character is pretty cheap considering the game is a one time purchase for unlimited play. Heck, I might even buy it just to support Zipper.

I think it would be much more considerate to the player, to allow character slot buyouts for $5 or whatever. $1 per slot per month, is kinda lame. The only slightly redeeming quality is that your character never disappears, and if you stop paying $1 a month, you can just pick it up again whenever ya want. Still though, I despise reoccurring billing of any sort. $2 a month X 2 slots = $24 a month. Which is like you're buying a new game every other year. Boo! Almost better off just using a different PSN ID.

BUT - I did get another character slot, just so I could play SVER with the JPAG group. (My first character is Raven) They gonna add me yet, or what?

@Dizazter your math is bad. $2n*2 slots = $4n

n = months. 24(12) months then totals out to 96$(48$)
it's $1n*2 slots = $2n
that's 24$ for 12 months, 48$ for 24.

Vetting without quitting your clan

I've vetted to Valor atm and although I'm having fun there (it's fun to see the other side of the acq and dom maps) I sure miss playing with my clanmates. I originally planned on vetting to SVER aswell before I joined them again, but now I can just buy another character slot and do both.

How thriving is the community for this game? I enjoyed my time in the beta, but don't have the schedule to commit to clans or regular meet-ups with buddies.

Are there any good casual clans?

@(Unverified) It's a train wreck. Domination and acquisition are virtually unplayable: they can't regularly sustain 256/126 player matches without insane queue waits. You have to be REALLY dedicated to keep playing it at this point.

The DLC thusfar has just fragmented the player base further rather than attracting new customers so they're cannibalizing their own audience.

They're doing a beta to try to completely rework the game in a last ditch effort to save it.

I'll be taking my copy to Gamestop next week.

@zenaxe

It's too bad the game doesn't just let you populate the world with 255 of your best offline friend bots....no queue waits + epic game.

That's the same problem I have...work schedule fluctuates too much, too busy, then too slow, then too busy again....that I can't really commit to a regular clan schedule.

It's a good thing you guys mentioned that they're only active for $1.00...I was about to throwdown for slots B and C even though I've only spent 40 minutes on the beta and 0 minutes on the released version of MAG.

I figured, heck, they're soooooo cheap at $1.00 a piece.

They make it a Buck so all you SVER d bags don't come over to another faction and find out that you have no skill and it was the Extra Damage in all your Guns. Just Kidding. But the SVER Tier 1 AK has Higher Damage then either Valor or Raven Tier 3 Assault Rifle. Also, the SVER LMG has the Most Damage... Again. Yeah, you thought it was the Valor one that was over powered.

Seriously though, The Buck makes it so not Everyone will be on all 3 sides at once. It is the Rivalry that makes this game tick anyways, right. Sure you can have 3 PSN profiles for free but not everyone does that anyways. The Slot if it was free would make it way too easy for triple rostering which would ruin what MAG is today.

Having already played and Veteraned through all 3 Factions, I ended up in a good clan at Valor and do not want to leave my Friends that are there. Yet I have a lot of Friends that I meet at Raven that I would like to play with from time to time. Most of the People I met on SVER either followed a group of us to there and then Valor, so I have no one that I need a SVER slot for right now.
I personally will be buying 1 Slot and Double Rostering on Valor and Raven.

Why not create 2 extra PSN id's to play MAG like that (there's people playing MAG still?!?) instead of paying $2 per month for 2 characters.

Guess Sony/the dev didn't sell as much copies as they would have liked

MAG was a cool game, but was not implemented properly. I sold it about a month after release because it just got so boring playing the same 6 maps(acq+dom) and with it's screwed up balance issues.

Don't know if it has been fixed since, but back then SVER maps/weapons were overpowered. Anyone who says otherwise is either lying or stupid.

The biggest problem though was it just didn't sell that well. There were times I wanted to play, but couldn't due to low player counts. What's the purpose of buying a game if you can't play it whenever you want?

Nope. It pretty well 900,000 copies on VGCHARTZ right now and about 850K of those were in the first month. It just sucked in the long term for exactly the reasons you cited and sales fell off a cliff once BFBC2 dropped and people realized the player base was dying.

SVER isn't over-powered or broken. We have teamwork. Only thing that sets us off from the rest is our damage on the guns a little higher but have lower stability. While im kinda happy they did this NOW.. (Shoulda did it at the beginning!) I wont be using this. I have 2 other accounts and dont need to pay $1 for an extra slot.

Meh I'll pass. I do wish they would price drop interdiction or give it for free on PS+ because I am tired of waiting for like an hour and a half to get into a game. I kind of feel like I lost money for buying it : (

I'm gonna give a big 'ol pass on those extra slots. It's not really needed in my opinion. With Happy Hour and Directives giving double xp. You can max your character really fast without having to worry about staying with that pmc or vetting to a different fraction. I'm a 1st vet on lvl 59 on sver and about to vet again on Raven.

The beta is okay. Needs some work. It's harder for lower levels to actually do something then the higher ones. I finally unlocked the F90 on my Raven acct and the gun is fine, but the Goliath Elite is where it's at.

If they bundle these weapons with the new maps, then it's a def. buy. We need to see more CQC weapons and a bit of finesse added to Escalation. Right now, it's just a Sabotage type game with three fractions. But it could be more. Like sensor arrays and mortar batteries and making the game a 2v1 if Sver captures D, so Valor and Raven will work together to Take D back.
