@Goaliegeek "Like all of the sports included, these feature tournament modes (with bronze, silver and gold tiers), free play and local multiplayer. "

Guessing not :-\

Nice.

Was not expecting this to score so highly.

Me neither. I thought this and EyePet would be the worst, but it turns out they're the best.

Things I would've liked to see in Sports Champions:
-an overall game. Like, there's some contest or reason why all of these mini games are mashed together
-online play. I can't understand why they wouldn't include that.
-support for more user customization. Perhaps giving the option of using your PlayStation Home avatar, for example.

@Surfaced

It blows my mind that your home avatar isn't used in a ton of games. It would have been a fundamentally cool deal if you could create a few avatars and pick them for your games.

The wii made clear how cool an idea this is.

As for online play, I'm not too surprised it's not included. It would be better if it had it, but they have to leave something for version 2.0, and this seemed like the likely candidate.

I think the difference between Miis and Homiis is that Miis were designed from the off to work with other game and the code was probably readied to do this, whereas with home it might be pretty hard to get them compatible with other games.

Bowling? There is the High Velocity Bowling game and it will have move support. I believe you received a demo for it.

Nice. I was not expecting Archery to work that well, given nothing to steady the imaginary arrow on, but if it works it works

Great review!
Just wondering, do games such as Archery and Gladiator Arena still work alright with one Move controller, or at all? =/ I can't afford two controllers day one...

"Move tracks the tiniest hand and wrist movements all the way up to the positioning of your body while playing, and does so effortlessly."

Isn't this a fundamental repudiation of the idea that Move is not a step forward in the way Kinietch is? If Move can do body movement tracking in gameplay, it seems it possesses the capability promised, but not completely delivered yet, by MS.

Yes, at the expense of being forced to hold something with buttons... which happens to really help the game play.

So it is true that you need 2 controllers to play this? I only ordered one and the add-on thing. If you need 2 then I'll have to return it as I cant afford 2 at the moment.

You don't need two controllers to play it, everything has a one controller option. One of the trophies is 'use two controllers', but if you really need the plat, maybe you can have a friend bring one over for a second or something. Archery is supposedly easier with one controller (I think it's just point instead of line up two?), but mostly the experience isn't too bad from what I've seen. I'm going to get one to start with, too, and I'll try to hold out on the other until The Fight comes out, but I'm not sure.

Actually, The Fight requires dual move controllers; though you might have been alluding to that with the end of your comment...
Anyway, I'm very happy that's I've pre-ordered the starter pack, sports champions(I'm in the UK), an extra controller, the fight and the raygun attachment thing after reading these reviews. (I think I'll also have to get tumble and flight control when they come out on PSN)

On another note: Can you please make it so the review score is hidden until the reader presses a button to show it?
I just want to make my own judgement and THEN show what score you give it. Having a number of stars makes me pre-judge the game before I finish reading, and not having that factor is one of the things I liked about joystiq reviews.

I Play Sports with one controller for 3 days before going out to buy the second one. The reason for the wait:
- They ran out of single controllers at EVERY outlet at my local mall; still had the boxed packs.
- I wanted a second for multiplayer

Having only one controller is in no way a detraction of the fun of these games. Gladiator is a little more fussy with one controller (press the trigger for your shield - it does feel more natural with two) and archery is soooo much more of a pest with the two controllers - mainly due to fatigue. All the others lend very well to a single controller.

Bottom line - get the one controller. Get the second one when you feel like it or your buddies are coming over. But you had better have two when The Fight: Lights Out is released.

I get palpitations every time I think about that game...

There has to be a Star Wars game for Move. Must have.

Just swing the controller normally for the lightsaber and hold down the trigger and swing for the force powers.

I can't wait to get Move. There's so much it could do and fun games to play with. Can't wait.

So you do need two move controllers to play archery, or is there a less accurate one controller option? If so, I'd like to hear how it works (or see).

I've only seen demonstrations with two controllers.

@Lerkero It's possible with one controller. I think it's more of a point and shoot kind of thing.

I played this at an event on Saturday & I have to say, my experience with Table Tennis was completely different.

I found that the entire thing had trouble keeping up with any quick movements and I found myself often missing shots that it seemed like I should've hit.

It left me with a really bad impression of Move.

Maybe it's because he's giving the exact opposite opinion to the one on the review?

@Mcmax3000

Did you read the Move hardware review?
It says if you are not at the right distance you will have problems with Move's tracking, and that this distance differs from game to game

Hey Randy: We have had a terrific bowling game for three years now (and now Move enabled) in High Velocity Bowling. Why create a whole new one then? It was already ten times better than Wii Bowling.

Xplay wasn't so fond on this game, either. Not "Start the party" Not "Kung Fu Rider" not any of the Move games so far. I really do trust their judgment and have for years. I don't thing this game would be a 2 but it certainly cannot be a 4 1/2, for Pete's sake. smh

That pretty much invalidates your whole comment. Unless it was reviewed by Adam Sesslar. And I just looked it up, no it was not. All the other reviewers on G4 are idiots.
