Just look at the image above and tell us the guy isn't CEO material. Heck, even better: watch the new PlayStation Move ad for yourself past the break and try to tell us it isn't the highlight of your day!
Kevin Butler shows us the epic side of PlayStation Move

Sony, here's an idea: just let Kevin Butler control your entire company. Seriously, Sir Howard Stringer is a great guy and all, don't get us wrong -- we've been up plenty of nights bawling our eyes out while he cradled us in his big, burly arms, assuring us that the PS3 would in fact be okay -- but Kevin Butler has proven in his latest ad that he's more than capable for the job.
Just look at the image above and tell us the guy isn't CEO material. Heck, even better: watch the new PlayStation Move ad for yourself past the break and try to tell us it isn't the highlight of your day!

Agree, if the Move, or Kenect, were half as good as this ad, i might want to try it. But if i wanted to waggle my hands like a baby, I'd play Wii Dust.

I think you took his quote out of context. He said 'something like zelda,' which I take to mean some sword/shield adventure type of game. Maybe with a little archery thrown in. The foundations for it are already in Sports Champions.

What's funny is that you haven't even tried it yet but you're already rating it. It's like saying 'I'm not going to eat that cause it's nasty' when you have never tried it before in your life.

I had no idea Tron Evolution was going to involve move. If it means getting one step closer to a real lightcycle, I might just have to buy a move. Thanks, Kevin Butler.

I saw this earlier. This is THE commercial for Move.
When I saw the old man playing, I was cracking up. This commercial is great. I hope they show this more than the "Marcus PSP" commercials.
Also, Sony start showing GT5 advertisements. I wanna see magazine covers, billboards, special soda. I mean something!

Marketing= Sales
Remember how RDR was everywhere? Remember Halo 3's "Game Fuel"?
Even though those games were good, it didn't hurt having great marketing. If GT5's budget was really around 60 mil or whatever than Sony can afford another couple million for marketing as well. Word of mouth can only do so much.

I think MS will stick to marketing Kinect for the whole family until they see where their sales end. So far Sony has taken the general marketing lead since they've been making more commercials about their products instead of doing what Microsoft is doing by putting Xbox 360 at the end of a commercial for a game. But who knows, in the past MS had the lead. Maybe they have something up their sleeves?

@Prboi You also have to figure that Move is launching two months before Kinect. You really do not expect either of these companies to push any product too hard, when it's not even out on store shelves yet. I think the closer we get to Kinect's launch, and subsequent window following launch, you are going to see more Kinect marketing than you can handle.
Also consider that Sony is marketing Move primarily at core gamers; most of their ads are going to show up in places where core gamers frequent. So for Move places like EGM, Game Informer, Joystiq, and SpikeTV, G4, Kotaku, etc. will be where the bulk of Playstation Move ads are placed. Meanwhile, like Nintendo, Microsoft is marketing Kinect at casuals and nongamers. So expect most of their ads to show up in places that gamers never go - like Vogue, and Lifetime, and Oxygen, Better Home & Gardens, and the Village Voice, etc. Right now for example, they have Kinect demo kiosks in Macy's department stores, and not Best Buy or GameStop.
Not saying there won't be some crossover in marketing venues, just that these are the primary places you can expect to see ads for either platform.

@Lerkero That makes no sense, Lerkero. Even when you consider that you can play games like SOCOM and Killzone 3 with the Playstation Move, the fact of the matter is those games are still going to play better using a DualShock 3 controller. No hardcore Playstation gamer in their right mind would want to play Uncharted 3 with the Playstation Move. In much the same way, that no hardcore Xbox gamer in their right mind would want to play Halo: Reach or Gears of War 3 with the Kinect.
I honestly feel that Sony spending so much money to market Move to hardcore gamers is a HUGE mistake. First of all, as I pointed out, hardcore games are always going to play better with the DualShock 3 controller. Second, most hardcore gamers who care about the Playstation 3, already own a Playstation 3 at this point, and know how good games like Infamous and Killzone play with the DualShock 3.
The better move for Sony, would have been to produce a PS3 Model without the blu-ray player in it, and bundle it with the Playstation Move and sell it for $250 to casual gamers. Then spend their marketing attracting casual gamers who want to upgrade from Wii to something that takes full advantage of their HDTVs and the internet. For those who want the added benefit of blu-ray, Sony could always sell an add-on blu-ray player, or include as part of the bundle, a coupon for money off a standalone, Sony branded blu-ray player. In this way, Sony does not water down the hardcore market trying to throw casual games at us, they create a way for them to gain some of Nintendo's casual gamers, and they sell a ton of Sony branded blu-ray players in the process.
As-is, in order to convince casual gamers to buy a Playstation Move, Sony has to convince casuals who already own a Wii, to spend another $400 ($300 for a PS3, and $100 for the Move Starter bundle). That's a lot of cheese to expect casual gamers to cough up just so they can play games once a week or once a month like most casuals do. One of the big reasons why Wii is so successful, is the price. They launched at $250 and sold like hotcakes out of the gate. Last year they dropped to $200 and kept up their sells momentum, and this holiday are likely to drop to $170 or $150 to further push their sells momentum. There are several good reasons why Nintendo has sold more systems this generation than Microsoft and Sony combined, and price is one of those reasons.
The strategy from both Microsoft and Sony should have been to find a way to compete with Nintendo on a price level as well as being attractive to the casual market. Sony can sell Move to hardcore gamers all they want. But at the end of the day, hardcore gamers are going to do with Move the same thing hardcore gamers did with Wii - put them down after a couple of months, and let them collect dust. The key to both Move's and Kinect's success will be in the casual market. And that is where both companies should be aiming their efforts to make their motion controllers succeed.
