Mafia 2 likely to be profitable, Take-Two says
27
Speaking today during Take-Two's quarterly earnings call, CEO Ben Feder commented on Mafia 2's projected profitability. Perhaps directly rebutting one analyst's recent prediction, Feder assured investors, "Based upon the initial launch, we expect this to be another profitable title for Take-Two." He did not offer specific sales or shipment data for the game's first week at retail, nor did Feder note a general timetable for when to expect Mafia 2 to cross over into the black.
Mafia 2 was released on August 24 to somewhat favorable critical reception, following an eight-year development process that began when 2K Czech set to work on a custom game engine. Our first glimpse of the game (pictured above) came just over three years ago.

Take-Two and I are similar.
I don't hold high expectations for many things (such as women or movies).

This game has me really torn.
You know, I didn't have high expectations for this game. I went in expecting to hate it. Then after a few hours, I loved it, and I couldn't stop playing, I was actually craving more and more of this experience, and this world.
So, then I'm sitting in my game room at 2AM, in the dark, just finishing up a really epic mission, and I'm waiting for the cutscene to finish to I can start the next mission......
......and the credits roll.
"What the ****?" I loudly exclaim to nobody in particular, completely blown away that the game is over already, when I genuinely thought I was only maybe half way through at 10 hours played. =/
So there you have it. I'm still angry at them for making the game so short and making me love it so much at the same time.

Sandbox games usually have a short/cut story like that due to the ever expanding sand box.

Sure, that's usually the case when said sandbox games have other things to do.
This one.. there's nothing. All you have is the story.

Even if in the end it turns out not to be profitable, they should release a statement saying "It was very profitable." just to mess with Pachter.
It would be a subliminal way in giving him the finger, and we all want that.

I was just getting ready to make a post of how this is yet another instance of Pachter being wrong. I hate that guy, and totally agree with you on that.
