ZOMGBBQ -- 2010 has been crazy-packed with games! Exceptional retail and downloadable titles have overwhelmed us this year, and now we're on the precipice of the "bad" part of the year. What's your most shameful game in the backlog and what are you currently playing?

Chris Buffa (@ChrisBuffa): Well I'll be on a plane to Chicago, so it's time to relax with some iPhone games. I think Epic's Citadel will make the cut, as well as Angry Birds. I really need to improve my gaming life. Not saying either of those are bad, but come on. Angry Birds came out ages ago.

James Ransom-Wiley: I totally just "splurged" on a gang of new iPhone games. Now I hope to actually play them!
JC Fletcher (@jcfletcher): I'm going to Japan to pick up some new Dragon Quest IX maps. Also, I might have some kind of vacation while I'm there.

Randy Nelson (@DangerPenguin) Labor Day weekend seems like the perfect time to splash a few bogeys in H.A.W.X. 2, so that's what I intend to do. Maybe even B.B.Q. and have a B.E.E.R. too!
Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM) Ransacking government offices with Sam Fisher and, time permitting, some Monday Night Combat and The Longest Journey.

Though it's my first Ys game, I'm completely blown away. It looks great, plays great, feels good, and there's barely any load times at all. I'm wondering if all Ys games are created with this much love.

I'm just hoping Birth By Sleep in a few days doesn't pull me away from it. I may delay picking it up until I'm done with Ys.

Also picked up the God of War: Ghost of Sparta demo. All I have to say is, the new King of PSP graphics has been crowned. Simply stunning."

How is the score? Usually YS games have amazing audio. I have fond memories of YS 3 on my SNES. I'll have to pick this one up too.

As for gaming its just gonna be me and Just Cause 2 all weekend.

All of my backlog is shameful, because it's so huge and yet instead I'm playing the WoW Cataclysm beta.

I still need to upgrade my PC to prepare for it. I used to run Vanilla and BC wow maxed out, but it started to chug a bit when Lich King was released. I imagine I may not be able to run Cataclysm that well. =/

I'm going to start reading Catwoman vol. 2 (1993-2001), which I just finished collecting in its entirety this morning.

Been playing God of War 3. I would continue, but my game keeps freezing at this one spot.

Playing mostly MW2 and MNC. Most shameful backlog... Red Faction and Dead Space :(

My backlog is so huge it stresses me out. Downloadable titles are killing me, especially with steam and it's freaking deals. Anyway, this weekend I'll be playing some Duke Nukem 3D in celebration of the revival of DNF....at least I hope, some WoW, and maybe some Darksiders.

I need to play almost every game I bought back in the Steam summer sale... I'm such a slacker.

Finally going to start a new character in Dragon Age just before the last expansion comes out. After that, perhaps some Mass Effect 2.

I picked up Shin Megami: Digital Devil Saga I've always heard nothing but good things.

It's very good but a little bit short even with the extra sidequests....and the most painful "super" boss in RPG history!!

Great game, great battle system, great soundtrack, great story, everything about this series is great! I let a friend borrow my copy of the first one prolly 4 or 5 years ago and he ended up selling it (he's a d-bag). After all these years of searching, I JUST found another copy a few months ago, and it was STILL like $30 pre-owned! Just shows how much of an awesome game it is!

I'm playing Fallout 3 and Red Dead Redemption. Can't wait for New Vegas.

Probably will get back to Dragon Quest VIII while finishing up Metroid: Other M.

Shameful? I picked up Dante's Inferno for $12.00 from Gamefly.

I hope to start my first FFXIII savefile this weekend. Woohoo!

Worst part of my backlog? Mario Galaxy

I blame Starcraft 2 and Titan Quest

Going thru Mass Effect 1 again this time totally renegade then onto Mass Effect 2 + All the DLC I have yet to play any of the extra DLC just been saving it up for my new Renegade Character. I still have Bayonetta and Split/Second i'm trying to work thru.

What else? Duke Nukem 3d.

I also bought one of those Power A PS3 controllers so I'll probably test that with ModNation and the Vanquish demo(Esp to see how it does with shooters), TF2 and if that Spider-Man is any good, I doubt it, I'll pick that up on Tuesday

I'll be working towards the Heavy Rain platinum, and play some BC2, Fallout 3 and FFXIII on the side.

Until Valkyria Chronicles 2 arrives of course :D

I will start on my backlog of DLC games. Maybe Shadow complex

GTA Ballad of Gay Tony online... thats all i ever play. Some Fallout 3 if i get the urge to, but mostly GTA online.

My backlog consists of finally beating Half Life 2. I didn't finish it before 'cause it kept freezing at one particular spot (I looked it up and it's actually a problem with the game disc (my copy is spotless, but even still...)). This means I can't move on to Episodes 1 and 2 until that problem gets resolved.

I'm currently playing FFXIII, but it's starting to get stale. I just think I'm hitting a dry patch in the pacing, because chapters 2-7 were scrumptious indeed.

@MGTrey If you havent yet, you should just buy the Orange Box. If i remember correctly, in addition to EP1 & 2, they used the improvements they made on the source engine between HL2 and EP2 to spruce up the original

@TheDarkWayne: I have the Orange Box. That's the problem: there's something with the discs manufactured that causes the game to freeze at one particular point, regardless of what's happening. It's frustrating.

@TheDarkWayne Dammit now I think I have to play Episode 2 this weekend

@MGTrey That does sound frustrating, have you tried the Steam version? Sure it's another 20 something bucks but, hey, desperate measures

Still in Brazil this week, so I've been finishing my DS backlog.

Just finished Bowsers Inside Story, and moving on to Zelda Spirit Tracks.

Got an early copy of Shattered Dimensions. Gameplay is good, Graphics are awesome, but the story is soo bland and almost dumbed down for the kiddies. I guess its because I got spoiled with Arkham Asylum that I feel this way. I wish they would of done the same as Batman:AA and hired the 90s animated series voice actors. I should of expected it being on a complete different level with it being rated T and Marvel now being owned by Disney :(

Anyways don't take my words as a review, its just a glance over some minor inconveniences I personally have with the game. Overall it is really fun to play. The different environments for each alternate spider-man keep the game fresh. I just have a few hours in so thats all I can say for now.

I thought the 90's voice actor was one of the spiderman in the game...

@wardob Ah you know what your completely right, I didn't recognize the voice because they change it for each spider-man. Like I stated, I just have a lil bit with it and didn't acknowledge that, and just assumed it was going to be the same actor throughout the game. I am an idiot :/

@pibs I can't believe people are still thinking like this with the Disney acquisition. Disney is a business, first and foremost. They aren't going to go churchifying everything in the name of the average American family. Are they going to have marvel make some comics about Mickey Mouse? Yeah, are they gonna declaw Wolverine? No God Damn way. My most shameful games from my backlog are Dante's Inferno on PS3 and UFC Undisputed 2010 on PS3.

Also, every other game that I've never played, starting with the NES days.

This weekend, I'll be spending time with Metroid: Other M, Shank on PSN, Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light on XBLA.

Huge back log, and I still have to pick up 1 or 2 trophies in Dead Space and fallout 3. I just got The Orange Box so it's monopolizing my time. My greatest sin is MGS4. I got it with my 80gb bundle and I've barley touched it. Shame.

MGS4 Is my shame too, but it really has to do with the huge gaps between save spots (after really long cutscenes!). Just don't have huge chunks of time to play anymore.
Hopefully get in some God of war 3 this weekend while the wife/kid are resting.

sounds like we're in the same boat. I popped in GoW3 last night for 20 minutes but haven't prgressed in it since release. I can usually only squeeze in an hour or two of game time after my 2 y/o has hit the sack. Luckily my wife is pretty understanding and doesn't grief me about it. i'm hoping to make some progress once cooler weather moves in.

I need to get around to finishing Starcraft 2 eventually. I've also got a bunch of PSP games I need to get around to finishing like Persona 3 and Peace Walker. Currently replaying Final Fantasy 8 on my PSP til the massive flood of "AAA's" hit in November, and waiting for a copy of Mafia 2 to become available at Blockbuster.

I'm finally playing through inFamous. I'm about halfway through right now. Then it's on to either Quantum of Solace or Dante's Inferno.

Brought the Wii with me to the parent's house to dig in to Metroid Other M. Most shameful in my backlog: MGS4

I've been whittling my backlog down over the past 6 months. Now that I've finally got around to playing Bioshock 2 (which I like more than I expected) the only thing left to tackle is Uncharted 2.

also, a friend of mine told me about the game "Breath of Death VII," which is an Xbox indie title. If you're looking for a really good old-school humorous RPG for a dollar I would definitely check it out.

Metroid. Progress is slow because i just moved into a Washington Internship program, so things are still getting shifted around a lot

I quite enjoy it, though. I'm a major fan of shonen anime, so this story seems quite tame in comparison. The only thing i really dislike are those sections where they make you stop and scan around for one tiny little insignificant things.

Combat, graphics, and sound are amazing, and i would say this game feels much more organic in terms of finding your way around than some complained (and certainly more organic than Fusion felt)

My backlog is kept to a minimum due to my "only buy when you finished one" policy. I rarely can get Day 1 chatter and buzz but this year it went pretty well with me buying DQ 9 on Day 1 and tore through it (with joyful abandon) in about a week and a half.

Now I'm playing Torchlight and SMT: Strange Journey.

Metroid: Other M!!!

FInally beat Super Metroid. Wow what an ending that was(or should I say boss battle).

Can't wait to see that ending recreated in Other M.
