I know some people were bummed out about Mickey not talking, but I think it was the right choice.

He's like Mario in that sense.

Everybody liked Gordon Freeman, and he never spoke a word.

Really? He was just another faceless protagonist who doesn't speak. I think people really loved the hell out of Half-Life games and that is the only reason Freeman is popular at all. He has exactly zero personality.

If saying "It's a me", "yahoo" and "Here we go" is all it takes to be a talking character, then Link "talks" too.

@Grey,
he does have personality, that's crystal clear through some of the characters commentaries and through the way the game unfolds.

Can I get an example. the only one I've ever heard was when Alyx was talking about how Freeman and Barney had a contest to find out who could get into the Doc's lab first using the vent's. Don't get me wrong, Half-Life 2 is in my top 10 of favorite games ever, but to say Gordon Freeman is anything but a cookie cutter character is pushing it.

@Grey; The silent protagonist is one of gaming's greatest gift to storytelling. Freeman is a popular character because when you played Half-Life / Half-Life 2, you were that character.

Wow that's really weird, I didn't know this was a topic, but as soon as the video started and he moaned for the first time I said, "I hope he doesn't talk."

Those are still words, and he still talks. That's why people say stuff like "It's-a me, Mario." Because he actually says that.

@JubbaTheHutt Only for the time being. If it's a hit with the Wii then it might get some love on the others. Disney likes to get money.

Honestly, I don 't see why every third party game on the Wii wouldn't come to the PS3 seeing as the Move has proven itself to be as good if not better than the Wiimote.

I just hope when the 360/PS3 versions come, folks don't criticize the game's graphics, because I honestly feel they won't take a long time on that when they port it.

Yes, I do wish this was on the other consoles as well but it's actually nice for the Wii to get a third party exclusive for a change.

Most of Wii's 3rd party games are exclusives, just that few of them are worth mentioning (like 3rd party Wii games overall)

I just love the sheer DENSITY of the references. It's like this is the Mario game made only for me, because I know VERY few other people who would benefit from this as much as me. I mean, Oswald is the main draw for me, that's how much of an animation nerd I am, but seriously who else is going to care in the slightest?

That big paint splodge looked a lot like Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas. Which, I guess, makes sense, seeing as though it's owned by Disney (I think). I'll probably get this game, it looks really promising.

Oogie Boogie is likely unrelated since the Phantom Blot predates him buy a good few decades

Oh, I knew it WASN'T Oogie Boogie, and after googling Phantom Blot it's obvious they redesigned him. They might have taken inspiration from Oogie Boogie, though. Just saying that they looked similar.

With production values like this, it could certainly contend with the current candidates (Mass Effect 2, Galaxy 2, StarCraft 2, Reach, Fable III, and GT 5)

Does it bug anyone else that Mickey's face is white and not tan/peach?
His face is the exact color of his gloves, it's bizarre.

Also, the old Mickey could be a really big jerk as well, which fits in with the game as you can choose to destroy or paint the things around you. I'd imagine you could make it a pretty dismal place if you have the amount of choices as the devs claim you do.

And yea, I can't believe people don't understand this is the old Steamboat era Mickey. If you've watched any clips from this game you'd know that there are even levels that are all black and white like the original cartoon.

Personally, I love this style much more than the modern mickey. The forehead and eyes' designs are fantastic.

@HTCEVO Then why is he wearing gloves?
Steamboat Willie doesn't wear gloves. It's awkward because his face is the same exact color as his gloves and it doesn't really work visually (color-wise).
And once he did appear in color in "The Band Concert" in 1935, his gloves had a very slight off-white appearance to them so that the gloves and his face wouldn't blend together such as they do in Epic Mickey.
I'm fine with his face being white, but they should have made his gloves a little off-white.
It's them being the exact same color that bothers me.

Flippin' fantastic use of background music. Overall the production values make it watch like a Pixar short or something of that caliber.

Hopefully the gameplay is this finely honed, then we'll have something worth remembering.

i think the main reason people are cut up about mickey's lack of a voice is because he has had a voice for so long, that when he doesn't talk it is jarring to some.
