A NeoGAF forumite going by the moniker "Raoul Duke" recently uncovered a timeworn Easter egg hidden within the folds of the aquatic GameCube racer, Wave Race: Blue Storm -- and appropriately enough, this egg is awfully rotten. By entering in a super-obscure code on the game's audio settings screen, players can change the typically pleasant (and omnipresent) pit crew commenter to a sardonic so-and-so who talks smack about your every action.
You can check out a video of this old-new Easter egg posted just after the jump, or, if you feel like taking a hit to your self-esteem for some reason, you can learn the arcane measures you have to follow to find the secret voice track over on NeoGAF.

Reminds me of Rogue Squadron. Came out in '98, and they hid an Episode 1 Naboo Fighter in the game, and didn't release the code until long after Star Wars: Episode 1 came out.

Yeah, I guess the title saying nothing about a new Wave Race and specifying that older one by title was probably too subtle a hint that it wasn't related to a new Wave Race.

So I got down voted? Fine. Though you seem to have took my comment wrongly. I'm disappointed because a new Wave Race would be awesome, but I still think this find is interesting.
I did guess what the article was about by the title, but I hadn't seen the title before I noticed the image.

You are a tremendous asshole. You ruined any chance of fun someone else could have with that game.

Always amazing to think how Nintendo essentially owned water effects.
I can't think of any recent games with water that even come close to the undulations of Wave Race's oceans.

@swooded If this was say....Red Dead Redemption, then sure, I'd agree with you, but this is a game on a system that nobody is playing on, in a game that nobody cares about anymore. It's as relevant as Richard Nixon is to the current political landscape.

News flash: Just because you no longer play a game does not mean the rest of us don't find it interesting!
If it were in Red Dead Redemption it would simply be "code found in Red Dead Redemption", and the reaction would be "Oh, a code not found before? Interesting."
This is "Code found in 9 year old game, never got press attention", and the reaction is "Wow, how'd that get by for so many years without coming to light?"

Nixon is still relevant today, and he will be even in the future, as president of the Earth.

Seriously, if you can't tell the difference between N64 and Gamecube graphics you should get your eyes checked.

There is a huge difference between *misspeaking* and writing something that is completely erroneous. I misspeak when I say Halo 3 is an Xbox game and not an Xbox 360 game. I'm completely wrong when I say Pikmin was for the N64. I'm also "completely wrong" if I make assumptions about fellow readers' reading habits.

Really man, having bad eyes is nothing to be ashamed of, lots of the time its a genetic disorder. But I'm sure that your eyes have a problem because you stared at the sun for too long.

Only if you had all 3 starters, unevolved, at level 100 without rare candies, and then talked to Prof. Oak 100 times.
